CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION AWARDING THE CONSTRUCTION
CONTRACT TO INTERSTATE GRADING & PAVING, INC.
OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA FOR THE
JUNIPERO SERRA BOULEVARD ASPHALT REPAIR/ROOT
BARRIER PROJECT IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED
$193,800.
WHEREAS,the asphalt along Junipero Serra Boulevard adjacent to the medians has been
damaged by roots from the trees in the medians from Hickey Boulevard to Avalon Drive; and
WHEREAS, City of South San Francisco ("City") staff issued a Notice Inviting Bids for
Junipero Serra Boulevard Asphalt Repair/Root Barrier Project ("Project") on September 3, 2015
and on September 17, 2015 received two (2)bids in response; and
WHEREAS, Interstate Grading and Paving, Inc. ("IGP") of South San Francisco,
California, submitted the lowest responsive and responsible bid in the amount of$193,800.00;
and
WHEREAS, total project costs including design, construction, construction contingency,
and construction management are estimated to be $268,180; and
WHEREAS, the Project is included in the City of South San Francisco's 2015-2016
Capital Improvement Program ("CIP") as Project No. 131506.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco that the City Council hereby awards a construction contract for the Project to Interstate
Grading and Paving for an amount not to exceed $193,800, conditioned on IGP's timely
execution of the Project contract and submission of all required documents, including but not
limited to, certificates of insurance and endorsements, in accordance with the Project documents.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of South San Francisco
authorizes the Finance Department to establish the Project Budget consistent with the
information contained in the staff report.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute the
documents on behalf of the City upon timely submission by Interstate Grading and Paving of the
signed contract and all other documents, subject to approval as to form by the City Attorney.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by
the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 28 day of
October 2015 by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmembers Karyl Matsumoto, Pradeep Gupta, and Liza Normandy
Vice Mayor Mark N. Addiego and Mayor Richard A. Garbarino
