Penna Robert Yee MINUTES City Council Municipal Services Building Community Room August 19, 1993 SPECIAL MEETING CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO AUGUST 19, 1993 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, pursuant to Section 54956 of the Government Code of the State of California, that the City Council of the City of South San Francisco will hold a Special Meeting on Thursday, the 19th day of August at 7:00 p.m., in the Municipal Services Building Community Room, 33 Arroyo Drive, South San Francisco, California. Purpose of the meeting: 1. City Clerk to present a Certificate of Facts to the effect that the following positions are to be elected at large: ~-seats City Council, City Clerk and City Treasurer. Only incumbents have been nominated and the number of persons ho have been nominated for those offices does not exceed the number to be filled at that election. Therefore, pursuant Elections Code 22843.5 and Assembly Bill 1282, the Council shall: (1) Appoint to the office the person who has been nominated; (2) Appoint to the office any eligible elector if no one has been nominated; (3) Hold the election if no one or only one person has been nominated. Council Present: Drago, Fernekes, Ye, e, and Teglia. Council Absent: Penna. M/S Teglia/Fernekes - To adopt the six Resolutions. RESOLUTION NO. 102-93 RESOLUTION NO. 103-93 RESOLUTION NO. 104-93 RESOLUTION NO. 105-93 RESOLUTION NO. 106-93 RESOLUTION NO. 107-93 Councilman Yee stated that he would abstain on the vote for the resolution appointing him to Council. Mayor Teglia stated that was not necessary because, by having turned in his nomination papers, he was saying that he had the qualifications and if, he didn't vote for himself in the voting booth then how could the public. Councilman Yee stated he understood that, but how he voted in the booth was a private matter and he was humble and would rather abstain than vote for himself on his resolution. BATTAYA TO THE OFFICE OF CITY CLERK Closed Session for the purpose of the discussion of personnel matters, labor relations, property negotia- tions and litigation. RECALL TO ORDER: ADJOURNMENT: Carried by unanimous voice vote with the exception of Resolution 105-93 wherein Councilman Yee abstained. Council adjourned to a Closed Session at 7:07 p.m. to discuss potential litigation. Mayor Teglia recalled the meeting to order at 8:06 p.m., all Council was present, and no action was taken.
