HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 05-2016 RESOLUTION NO. 05-2016 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF $9,000 IN GRANT FUNDING FROM PACIFIC LIBRARY PARTNERSHIP TO SUPPORT A "WEARABLES FOR WELLNESS"HEALTH TECHNOLOGY COLLECTION AT THE MAIN LIBRARY AND AMENDING THE LIBRARY DEPARTMENT'S 2015-2016 OPERATING BUDGET. WHEREAS,the City of South San Francisco("City")Library Department prioritizes services and collections promoting health and well-being, and technology adoption and skill development; and WHEREAS, the Pacific Library Partnership has awarded an Innovation and Technology Opportunity grant to the City in the amount of$9,000 to implement"Wearables for Wellness", a circulating collection of health-related devices; and WHEREAS, adding this collection, along with instruction in its use, will provide the community with self-improvement technology, ease access to healthcare, encourage preventative care measures, and help citizens achieve health and wellness goals; and WHEREAS, staff recommends the acceptance of the grant funding in the amount of$9,000 from the Pacific Library Partnership to implement a Health Technology Collection; and WHEREAS,the foregoing grant funds will be used to amend this year's operating budget of the Library Department. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that the City Council hereby accepts $9,000 in grant funding from the Pacific Library Partnership and amends the Library Department's 2015-2016 Operating Budget in order to reflect an increase of$9,000. I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 13t1i day of January, 2016 by the following vote: AYES: Councilmembers Karyl Matsumoto, Richard A.
