CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION
CONTRACT TO BRENEMAN, INC. OF WALNUT CREEK,
CALIFORNIA FOR THE WILLOW GARDENS
PLAYGROUNDS REPLACEMENT PROJECT IN AN
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $132,460.
WHEREAS, the City of South San Francisco ("City") is responsible for maintaining the
playgrounds adjacent to Susie Way in the Willow Gardens Maintenance District; and
WHEREAS, the playground surfacing and equipment replacement of the aging and
damage playground surface has reached the end of its useful life and requires replacement; and
WHEREAS, the City contracted with Harris Design for a design of the replacement
playground surfacing, play equipment; and
WHEREAS, City of South San Francisco ("City") staff issued a Notice Inviting Bids for
the Willow Gardens Playgrounds Replacement Project ("Project") on January 5, 2016 and on
February 2, 2016 received six (6)bids in response; and
WHEREAS, Breneman, Inc. of Walnut Creek, California, submitted the lowest
responsive and responsible base bid in the amount of$114,560; and
WHEREAS, Breneman, Inc., submitted three add alternate bids in the total amount of
$17,900; and
WHEREAS, staff recommends awarding the construction contract including the base bid
and all three add alternate bids to Breneman, Inc. in an amount not to exceed $132,460; and
WHEREAS, total project costs including design, construction, construction contingency,
project management, and construction inspection are estimated to be$228,867; and
WHEREAS, the Project is included in the City of South San Francisco's 2015-2016
Capital Improvement Program ("CIP") as project pk1401.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco that the City Council hereby awards a construction contract for the Project to
Breneman, Inc. for an amount not to exceed $132,460.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of South San Francisco
authorizes the Finance Department to establish the Project Budget consistent with the
information contained in the staff report.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute the
documents on behalf of the City upon timely submission by Breneman Inc. of the signed contract
and all other documents, subject to approval as to form by the City Attorney.

the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 24th day of
February, 2016 by the following vote:
