PUBLIC COMMENTS None. CONSENT CALENDAR 1. Motion to approve the minutes of the May 8, 2002 regular meeting 2. Motion to confirm expense claims of May 22, 2002 in the amount of $30,770.72 Motion-Femekes/Second-Gonzalez: To approve the Consent Calendar as submitted. Unanimously approved by voice vote. PUBLIC HEARINGS 3. Consideration of Precise Plan (P02-0030), change in use from approved use of office to proposed use of R&D/office in the Gateway/Business Commercial Zone District, at 681 Gateway Boulevard, in the Gateway Redevelopment Area; previously certified Negative Declaration (ND-00-020); Applicant: James H. Richardson; Owner: Gateway Center LLC Public hearing opened. ..... Staff report presented by Principal Planner Kalkin. Mr. James H. Richardson, representing Alexandria Real Estate Equities, a national life- science real estate company, spoke in support of the item and briefed Council on the company's development projects. Public hearing closed. In response to Boardmember Fernekes, staff stated that adjacent property owners were notified of the application and no complaints were received. Chairman Mullin stated his support for the project and noted that there will be a traffic reduction as a result of the use modification. Motion-Matsumoto/Second-Femekes: To approve Precise Plan (P02-0030), change in use from approved use of office to proposed use of R&D/office in the Gateway/Business Commercial Zone District, at 681 Gateway Boulevard, in the Gateway Redevelopment Area; previously certified Negative Declaration (ND-00-020). Unanimously approved by voice vote. 4. Consideration of Precise Plan (P02-0032), signage for Bay West Cove; Applicant: Chamorro Design Group; Owner: Slough Estates Public hearing opened. Staff report presented by Principal Planner Kalkin. Mr. A1 Chamorro, applicant and architect for the project, presented the Agency with a modified color sample of the granite monument signage and explained that it is more compatible with the buildings. Staff stated their approval of the color modification. Mr. Hanns Lee, Hines Development, concurred with the color modification and stated it will match nicely with Hines' sign program. Public hearing closed. Motion-Femekes/Second-Gonzalez: To approve Precise Plan (P02-0032), signage for Bay West Cove. Unanimously approved by voice vote.
