HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 38-2016 RESOLUTION NO. 38-2016 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA ADOPTION OF A RESOLUTION RENAMING "GRANDVIEW DRIVE" TO "DNA WAY". WHEREAS, in June 1997, Genentech, Inc. made a formal request and the City Council adopted resolution no. 62-97 to have the 400 block of Point San Bruno Boulevard renamed to DNA Way; and WHEREAS, California Government Code Section 34091.1 authorizes the City Council to rename a public street; and WHEREAS, Genentech, Inc. has made a formal request to have Grandview Drive (between Point San Bruno Boulevard and East Grand Avenue) renamed to DNA Way; and WHEREAS, this request would affect all properties along the proposed name change. including a City-owned property, TMB Baking and all properties controlled by Genentech; and , WHEREAS, upon adoption of this resolution changing the name of Grandview Drive (between Point San Bruno Boulevard and East Grand Avenue) to DNA Way, the City of South San Francisco's Building Division will send letters to the United States Postal Service, utility companies and adjacent land owners advising them of the street name change; and WHEREAS, Genentech will fund all costs to replace the existing street name signs at Grandview Avenue and East Grand Avenue intersections and is willing to reimburse TMB Baking for all hard costs incurred from this change. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that the City Council hereby approves renaming Grandview Drive (between Point San Bruno Boulevard and East Grand Avenue) to DNA Way. I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 13"' day of April, 2016 by the following vote: AYES: Councilmembers. KMyl Matsumoto Richard A. Garbarino and Liza Normandy Vice Mayor Pradeep Gupta and Mayor Mark N. Addiego NOES: None ABSTAIN: None ABSENT: None ATTEST, City Clerk
