Box 711 (City Hall, 400 Grand Avenue) _ South San Francisco, CA City Council c1LIFORI`l� Resolution: RES 26-2017 File Number: 17-220 Enactment Number: RES 26-2017 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ACCEPTANCE OF $7,500 IN GRANT FUNDING FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY PORT SECURITY GRANT PROGRAM TO UPGRADE MARINE COMMUNICATIONS ON THE FIRE DEPARTMENT'S RESCUE BOAT AND AMEND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT'S FISCAL YEAR 2016-17 OPERATING BUDGET. WHEREAS,the United States Department of Homeland Security awarded a grant to the City of South San Francisco in the amount of$7,500 to fund marine communication upgrades for the Fire Department's rescue boat; and WHEREAS,the new radio will provide access to all United States Coast Guard frequencies, access to San Mateo County fire frequencies, and a more powerful radio transmission signal; and WHEREAS, the marine radio enhancements will improve crew safety and provide for more effective operations; and WHEREAS, staff recommends the acceptance of the grant funding in the amount of$7,500 from the United States Department of Homeland Security's Port Security Grant Program; and WHEREAS, acceptance of the foregoing grant funds will amend the FY 2016-17 Fire Department Operating Budget. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that the City Council hereby accepts $7,500 in grant funding from the United States Department of Homeland Security and amends the Fire Department's Fiscal Year 2016-17 Operating Budget. At a meeting of the City Council on 3/22/2017, a motion was made by Liza Normandy, seconded by Richard Garbarino, that this Resolution be approved. The motion passed.
