HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2704-1958 Signed CopyRESOLUTION NO. 2704 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO ENDORSING PROPOSITION NO. 4 WHEREAS, California is critically lacking in small craft harbors and facilities to.meet the needs of our rapidly expanding boating and water sports activity, and WHEREAS, construction of such facilities will not only fill a great recreational demand but will stimulate the entire California economy through increased travel and boating expenditures and resort and tourist trade, and WHEREAS, small boat activities result in indirect economic benefits such as increased employment and broader tax bases for the communities where small craft facilities are developed, and WHEREAS, Proposition 4 on the November ballot, in addition to $50,000,000 for necessary modernization of the State-owned port at San Francisco, provides a $10,000,000 re- volving fund for loans to local communities to help in the construction of more than 100 small craft projects planned throughout the State, and WHEREAS, passage of Proposition 4 will enable California to carry out both the State port and small craft programs at no cost to the taxpayers through authorization of self-liquidating bonds, to be repaid from State port and small craft project revenues. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the'City of South San Francisco does hereby endorse and support Proposition 4, the $60,000,000 State Harbor and Small Craft bond issue, and does hereby urge its approval by the voters of California.
