*Mayor Pro Tem Matsumoto arrived at 6:08 p.m.

City Manager Wilson, Assistant City Attorney
Johnson, Assistant City Managers Nagel and
Van Duyn

4. Consideration of options related to vacancy of the office of the City Treasurer
City Manager Wilson briefly explained the procedures that were before Council to
consider. He stated that staff's recommet.dation is to instruct staff to solicit applications
for appointment and schedule interviews 'or a specific date. He stated that after the
interviews Council will have the option o :making an appointment or call for an election.
Mayor Gonzalez opened the discussion a~ .d asked if there was interest in soliciting
applications.
Council briefly discussed the City Treasu'er position being elected v. appointed and that
the question would have to be submitted t> the voters.
Mayor Pro Tem Matsumoto stated her support for making an interim appointment and the
rationale for making the position permanently appointed. Council agreed that this issue
will be discussed further at a future date.
There was a consensus from Council to g:~ve direction that an advertisement be placed in
the newspapers and that a special meeting be scheduled for November 25 to interview
applicants a- 6:30 pm.
Mayor Gonzalez appointed Mayor Pro Trna Matsumoto and Councilman Garbarino to sit
on the committee to develop interview questions. Council agreed to review the questions at
the November 12 regular meeting. A cot.sensus was also reached by Council to have the
November 25 meeting held at the Munic! >al Services Building and that it be televised, if
possible.

Motion-Gmbarino/Second-Green: To ad oum the meeting at 6:24 p.m. Unanimously
approved by voice vote.
