RESOLUTION REJECTING ALL BIDS FOR THE EL CAMINO
REAL GRAND BOULEVARD PROJECT OBAG PROJECT
(PROJECT NO. ST1403).
WHEREAS, City of South San Francisco ("City") staff issued a notice inviting bids for the El Camino
Real Grand Boulevard Project-OBAG (Project No. st1403), which is Phase I of the South San Francisco
Grand Boulevard Initiative Project("Project"); and
WHEREAS,on May 23,2017,the City received one(1)bid from Interstate Paving&Grading which was
approximately $800,000 above the engineer's estimate; and
WHEREAS, City staff recommends rejecting the bid; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Public Contract Code Section 20166, a public entity retains the discretion to
reject all bids it receives on a given project; and
WHEREAS,it would be in the best interest of the City to combine the Project,which is Phase I,with Phase
II of the South San Francisco Grand Boulevard Initiative Project and rebid; and
WHEREAS,the City will start the rebidding process at the end of 2017 or early 2018 and the City Council
will make their future determination based on the bids received.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED,by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that the
City Council hereby rejects the bid for the Project, El Camino Real Grand Boulevard Project-OBAG
(Project No. st1403).
At a meeting of the Special City Council on 7/12/2017, a motion was made by Richard Garbarino,
seconded by Mark Addiego, that this Resolution be approved.The motion passed.
