Box 711 (City Hall, • 400 Grand Avenue) South San Francisco, CA • City Council Resolution: RES 158 -2017 File Number: 17 -1158 Enactment Number: RES 158 -2017 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF $15,000 IN GRANT FUNDING FROM PACIFIC LIBRARY PARTNERSHIP TO SUPPORT THE CREATION OF A TEEN DIGITAL MEDIA LAB AT THE MAIN LIBRARY, AND APPROVING BUDGET AMENDMENT 18.018. WHEREAS, the Library Department's Five Year Strategic Plan includes a goal of developing a robust digital environment; and WHEREAS, in November 2017 the Pacific Library Partnership has awarded the Library a grant in the amount of $15,000 to create a Teen Digital Media Lab; and WHEREAS, the technology enriched space will allow teenagers to explore and learn digital design skills; and WHEREAS, portable equipment will allow library staff members to engage teens with digital media during school visits and outreach events; and WHEREAS, staff recommends the acceptance of grant funding in the amount of $15,000 from the Pacific Library Partnership to support a Teen Digital Media Lab; and WHEREAS, the foregoing grant funds will be used to amend this year's operating budget of the Library Department. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that the City Council hereby accepts $15,000 in grant funding from the Peninsula Library Partnership, and amends the Library Department's FY 2017 -18 operating budget through Budget Amendment 18.018 in order to reflect an increase of $15,000. At a meeting of the City Council on 12/13/2017, a motion was made by Mark Addiego, seconded by Pradeep Gupta, that this Resolution be approved. The motion passed.
