Box 711 (City Hall, 400 Grand Avenue) South San Francisco, CA City Council Resolution: RES 164 -2017 File Number: 17 -1155 Enactment Number: RES 164 -2017 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF $9,000 IN GRANT FUNDING FROM THE UNITED WAY OF THE BAY AREA TO SUPPORT THE VOLUNTEER INCOME TAX ASSISTANCE PROGRAM AT PROJECT READ, AND APPROVING BUDGET AMENDMENT 18.017. WHEREAS, the City of South San Francisco ( "City ") Library Department established Project Read to assist adults and their families in reaching educational goals; and WHEREAS, in November 2017 the United Way of the Bay Area awarded a grant to the City to fund Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) programming at Project Read; and WHEREAS, VITA programming will assist over 200 low- income community members in completing their tax returns; and WHEREAS, the final amount of the grant will be determined in January by United Way of the Bay Area; and WHEREAS, the grant funds will be used to amend this year's operating budget of the Library Department. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that the City Council hereby accepts $9,000 in grant funding from the United Way of the Bay Area to fund VITA programming at Project Read, and approves Budget Amendment 18.017. At a meeting of the City Council on 12/13/2017, a motion was made by Mark Addiego, seconded by Pradeep Gupta, that this Resolution be approved. The motion passed.
