RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF UP TO
$7,500 IN LIBRARY SERVICES AND TECHNOLOGY ACT GRANT
FUNDING FROM THE CALIFORNIA STATE LIBRARY TO
PURCHASE BOOKS IN SEVERAL HIGH INTEREST AREAS AND
APPROVING BUDGET AMENDMENT 19.004.
WHEREAS, the California State Library provides grant funds and services to support California State
Library Initiatives in libraries throughout the state; and
WHEREAS, the California State Library Initiative Book Project, through federal Library Services and
Technology Act (LSTA) funding, allows libraries to purchase materials to support State Library
Initiatives; and
WHEREAS, the Library Department was awarded a grant of up to $7,500 through the California State
Library Initiative Book Project to purchase materials in high interest areas; and
WHEREAS, funds will be used to update and expand collections on: high interest, low reading level
materials, mental health resources, topics of interest to patrons over age 50, and early literacy; and
WHEREAS, staff recommends the acceptance of grant funding of up to $7,500 in LSTA grant funding
from the California State Library to support high interest collections; and
WHEREAS, grant funds will be used to amend the Fiscal Year (FY) 2018 -2019 Operating Budget of the
Library Department via Budget Amendment 19.004.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of South San Francisco does
hereby accept up to $7,500 in LSTA grant funding from the California State Library and approve Budget
Amendment 19.004 to amend the Library Department's FY 2018 -2019 Operating Budget to reflect an
increase of $7,500.
At a meeting of the City Council on 9/12/2018, a motion was made by Pradeep Gupta, seconded by Mark
Addiego, that this Resolution be approved. The motion passed.
