RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF UP TO
$7,500 IN LIBRARY SERVICES AND TECHNOLOGY ACT GRANT
FUNDING FROM THE CALIFORNIA STATE LIBRARY TO
SUPPORT LIBRARY FOREIGN LANGUAGE AND BILINGUAL
BOOK COLLECTIONS FOR CHILDREN, AND AUTHORIZING
BUDGET AMENDMENT 19.016.
WHEREAS, the City of South San Francisco ( "City ") Library Department is dedicated to assisting all
residents in locating and accessing information; and
WHEREAS, California is home to more than 10 million immigrants; and
WHEREAS, libraries play a key role in welcoming and educating immigrants; and
WHEREAS, in July 2018, the Library Department was awarded funding of up to $7,500 to update and
expand foreign language and bilingual book collections for children; and
WHEREAS, funding for this grant is reimbursement based with total costs not to exceed $7,500; and
WHEREAS, receipt of these grant funds does not commit the City to ongoing funding; and
WHEREAS, the foregoing grant funds will be used to amend the Library Department's Fiscal Year (FY)
2018 -19 Operating Budget on receipt.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of South San Francisco does
hereby accept up to $7,500 in grant funding from the California State Library and approve Budget
Amendment 19.016 to amend the Library Department's FY 2018 -2019 Operating Budget in order to
reflect an increase of $7,500.
At a meeting of the City Council on 9/12/2018, a motion was made by Pradeep Gupta, seconded by Mark
Addiego, that this Resolution be approved. The motion passed.
