RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF $38,904
IN DONATIONS FROM THE 26TH ANNUAL TRIVIA
CHALLENGE AND APPROVING BUDGET AMENDMENT
19.045 INCREASING THE LIBRARY DEPARTMENT'S FISCAL
YEAR 2018-2019 OPERATING BUDGET BY $11,000 TO
EXPAND THE LIBRARY'S PROJECT READ PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the City of South San Francisco ("City") Library Department established Project Read to
assist adults and their families in reaching educational goals; and
WHEREAS, in November 2018, the 26th Annual Trivia Challenge fundraiser was held to support Project
Read services; and
WHEREAS, net income from sponsorships, donations, a silent auction, a raffle, and team and dinner
fees totaled $38,904; and
WHEREAS, $27,904 of this funding will be deposited in Project Read donations; and
WHEREAS, $11,000 of this funding will be used to amend the Library Department's Fiscal Year
2018-2019 Operating Budget to fund expansion of Project Read services; and
WHEREAS, expanded services shall include the I am a Writer project, public relations planning and
activities, and development of marketing and fundraising materials; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that
the City Council hereby accepts $38,904 in donations from the 26th Annual Trivia Challenge and
approves Budget Amendment 19.045 increasing the Library Department's Fiscal Year 2018-2019
Operating Budget by $11,000.

At a meeting of the City Council on 3/13/2019, a motion was made by Richard Garbarino, seconded by
Buenaflor Nicolas, that this Resolution be approved. The motion passed.
