Regulating the di~ging up and disturbances of Roadways and Sidewalks, in the Public Streets, Lanes, Alleys, and Public 2 Places in the City of South San Francisco, Regulating the 3 Refilling an~ Repair of Disturbed Streets and Roadways T~ereof 5 The Board of Trustees of the City of South San Francisco, do 6 ordain as Follows; 7 Section I; Section V of said ordinance ~ 78, as above entitled, 8 is hereby repealed in toto. 9 Section II; All refilling of any and all excavations mentioned 10 in said ordinance ~ 78 as aforesaid, shall be made in the follo- 11 wing manner,to wit; 12 The dirt shall be replaced and carefully tamped in layers not 13 exceedin~ two feet in thickness; each layer shall be well flooded l~ with water before the next layer is put on, and the last layer 15 shall be well flooded and tamped although the same may be less 16 than two feet in thickness. 17 If the street or place where such excavation is made, has ~een 18 paved, excavations shall be refilled and hereinbefor~ provided, 19 up to the underside of the permanent pavement ~nd whan such ~0 refilling is in proper condition, the pavement torn up or da- 21 maged by such oxcavation shall be replaced in the following 22 manner, to wit; In accordance with those certain plans and 23 specifications known as" Detail plans and specifications for 24. replacing cuts in pavements in 'the City of South San Francisco, 2~ California," which plans and specifications were duly adopted 26 by said, Board of Trustees at a regular meeting of said Board, the ~7 15th day of ~..~arch, 1996, ~nd which plus- and specifications are 'i 28 now on file with the City Clerk, special reference to them being, ~9 hereby made. Said plus and specifications are hereby incorporated .t0 herein as part of this ordinance as fully as though herein at length set forth. 1 All pavements shall be replaced in accordance with the same 2 plans and specifications used in the construction of pavements S torn up or damaged by such excavation. Where any portion of the ~ earth about the edge of such excavation shall ca~:~e in, the superin- 5 tendent of streets may require any portion of the pavement thus 6 undermined or rendered unstable by such excavation, to be replaced ~ as above specified. 8 The replacing of pavements shall be done under the supervision 9 of an inspector duly authorized by the Superintendent of Streets l0 to inspect work and the suoerintendent of streets shall collect 1! as hereinafter specified, for the cost of replacement, the costs of 12 such inspection at the rate of seven dollars, ~?.OO~ per day for 19 each ins ~ector so employed. 1~ Section III; This ordinance shall in no way be considere~ as 15 amending or nullifying any other provisions in said Ordinance 16 #?8 contained, other than said section ~ hereinbefore referred to. 1~ Section IV; The penalties for any violation of the provisions 18 ~f this ordinance shall be the s~me as those provided for in said 1~ ordinance ,~ ~8for the violation thereof. 20 Section V; This ordinance shall be published once in the 21 "Nmm,:"South San Francisco Journal ", and take effect and be in, 22 force ~O days after its passage. 2~ Introduced the 15th day of Hatch, 19~6; Passed and adopted as ,~n Ordinance of the City of South San Prancisco, at a regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of said City held the ~,, day of Noe~; Trust~es;~None ' . t!' $0 Absent; Trustees; None At est :~pproved; /~ _ ~ ~ City ~l'e~k" / Pres. of t~e Board. P~PLAC2~I~6 C01~ 1~ ~OUTH 5,01 FR~CI~O If trench or hole is in pavement having an asphaltic concrete surface the same thickness of surface shall be replaced. The hydraulic eememt~,coa~erete base shall be of the following proportions: One part ceiaent to 2~ parts sand and 5 parts crushed rock or gravel° If trench or ~ole is in plain cement concrete pavement the proportions of the concrete shall be 1 part cement to 2 parts sand and $ parts crushed rock or gravel. If trench or hole is in an oiled macadam pavement the same method shall be used as in pavement havi.ng an asphaltic concrete surface, allowing for an an asphaltic concrete top 1~ inches thick. If trench or hole is in a pavement having an asphaltic concrete surface on a water-bound rock macadam base, the same shall be replaced to the above dimensions with asphaltic concrete placed in layers not more than 3 inches thiek, each layer thoroughly tamped and allowed to cool before the next layer is applied. Trenches or holes having an area of 12 square feet or less shall be replaced to the abo~e dimensions with asphaltic concrete placed in layers not more than 3 inches thick, each layer thoroughly tamped and allowed to cool before the next layer is placed° The surface of the replaced pavement shall be flush with the surface of the existing pavement adjacent thereto.
