The Oity Council of the Oity of South San ~ranoisoo do
ordain as follows:
Section 1. It is hereby determined that public interest
demands that said City of South San ~ranoiseo should co,truer In
said 0ity a concrete hillside si~ to a~vertise South San Fran~eoo
the Industrial City; it is f~ther hereby dete~ined that the cost
of ~id sign will be too ~eat to be paid out of the revenu~
said 0ity of South San Francisco to be receiwed during the fiscal
year eo~encing on the 1st day o~ July, 1928, and ending on the Z0th
day of J~e, 1929, d~ing whi~ fiscal y~r it is proposed to con-
~truct said
Section 2. That the estimated cost of oo~tructing said
sign is ~ive Thousand Dollars ($000.00).
~ection 3. That the total amour of money to be raised for
constructing said sign is ~ive Thousand Dollars ($000.00).
Section ~. That the annul rate of taxation to be levied
for the p~poses of reis~g said s~ o~ Five Thousand Dollars ($5000.00)
i~ 8even (7) centre on each One Hundred Dollars ($100.00).~
Section 5. That it is proposed to levy said special ta~ in
the amount of Seven (7) cents on each One H~dred Dollars ($100.00)
of the property assessed for the p~po~es of taxation within said City
of South San ~rancisco for the fiscal year oo~encing on the 1st day
o~ July, 1928, and ending on the 30th day o~ June, 1929,
Section 6. There is hereby submitted to the qualified electors
of the City of South San ~rancisco, at the general election to be
held in said City on the 9th day of April, 1928, the question or
proposition of levying a special tax in the amount of Seven (?) cents
on each One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) of the property assessed for the
purposes of taxation within said 0ity to raise the sum of Five Thomas.nd
Dollars ($500(100) to be expended for constructing the sign mentioned
in Section 1 hereof, and of authorizing the City 0ouncil o£ said
0ity of South San Francisco to levy such special tax at the time
fixed by law for levying taxes within said municipality.
Section 7. There shall be placed upon the ballots used
at the general election to be held in said City o£ South San Fran-
cisco on the 9th day of April, 1928, the £ollowing proposition:

on each One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) o£ the property assessed £or
the purposes o£ taxation within said municipality for the purpose of
raising the sum of Five Thousand Dollars ($5000.00) to be expended
for constructing in said City a concrete hillside sign in said City

Section 8. If, at~.said~general municipal election, Two-

special tax shall be in favor of the levy thereof, the City Council
of said City of South ~an Francisco, at the time fixed by law for
levying taxes within said municipality, shall include the special
tax provided for in this ordinance to raise said sum of ~lve Thousand
Dollars ! $~000.00).
Section 9. This ordinance shall be published by Two
insertions in "The Enterprise an~ The South San Francisco Journal",
a newspaper of general circulation printed and published and circulat-
ed one day a week in said City of South San ~rancisoo, and shall take
effect and be in full force from and after the date of its passage
and approval.
Introduced this 5th day of March, 1928.
Passed and adopted as an ordinance of the City of South San
~rancisco at a regular meeting of the ~ity Council of the City of
South San ~'rancisco this l~th day of March, 1928, by the following vote:
