'~-.Y 3~ MISSION FOR THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRf~I~CISC0o '"".%.. ....... i The City Council of the City of South San ordain Francisco do as follows: Section 1. ~ city planning cm~ission is hereby created in and for the City of ~outh San Francisco. Said city planning cor~:~ission shall consist of nine members as follows: The treasurer, the health officer and assistant city engineer of said city, who shall be members ex officio, and six other persons, not officials of said city, who shall be a],pointed~by the mayor, with the approval of said city council. Section 2. Of the member~ of the col~miission first appoint, ed, two shall be appointed for terms of one year, two for terms of t.-wo yea. rs, one for the term of three years and one for the term of four .years. Their successors shall be appointed for terms of four yeays. If a vacancy shall occur, otherwise thaf~ by expiration of term, it shall be filled by appointment for the unexpired oortion of the term. The terH~ of the ex officio members shall correspond to their respec- tive official terms. Section 3. The members of the co~:~missioh shall not receive' any compensation for their services. The city council shall fix the amount of compensation to be paid to the secretary of the city plan-' ning commission. Section 4. Immediately upon their appointment the members shall organize the city planning cormnission and shall elect a chairman from among the appointed members. The term of office of such chairman shall be one year. They shall also appoint a secretary who shall not be one of their number, and who shall hold office durint the pleasure of said city plannin~ commission. In case of absence of the chairman or secretary, the members of: the commission shall select a chairman aha secretary pro tern., as the case may be. Section 0. The city planning commission may appoint such employees as may be necessary to carry out the powers and duties of the city planning commission; provided, however, that the city council shall fix the amount of compensation, if any, to be paid to such employees. Seet~ion 6. The city planning co~ission shall meet at least once a month at such times and at such place, within said City of South San Francisco, as said city planning commission may fix by resolution. Special meetings may be called at any time by the chairman, or three members, by written notice served upon each mem- ber of the con~ission at least three hours before the time specified for the PrOPosed meeting. Five members of the commission shall con- stitute a quorum for the transaction of business. Section 7. This ordinance shall be published by one (1) insertion in "The Enterprise and The SOuth San Francisco Journal," a newspaper of general circulation printed and published in said City of South San Francisco,and shall take effect and be in force upon the expiration of thirtF~($0) days from its passage and adoption.
