Box 711 (City Hall, 400 Grand Avenue) South San Francisco, CA City Council ' Resolution: RES 82-2020 File Number: 20-415 Enactment Number: RES 82-2020 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF $40,751 IN GRANT FUNDING FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE FUNDING OPPORTUNITY ENTITLED "BJA FY 20 CORONAVIRUS EMERGENCY SUPPLEMENTAL FUNDING PROGRAM" ADDRESSING EQUIPMENT NEEDS IN RESPONSE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC AND APPROVING BUDGET AMENDMENT 21.004. WHEREAS, the South San Francisco Strategic Plan includes a goal of engaging in the Smart Cities Initiative to utilize electronic data collection to supply information which is used to manage assets and resources efficiently for law enforcement, fire response, and emergency medical response; and WHEREAS, the United States Department of Justice "BJA FY 20 Coronavirus Emergency Supplemental Funding Program" is intended to provide equipment for first responder use during the COVID-19 pandemic; and WHEREAS, in response to COVID-19, the United States Department of Justice has awarded the South San Francisco Information Technology Department a grant in the amount of $40,751 to support the purchase of public safety equipment utilized in response to the COVID-19 pandemic; and WHEREAS, the grant will expand the ability to work remotely, improve data capture capability in field settings, and provide the ability to quickly disinfect response apparatus; and WHEREAS, staff recommends the acceptance of grant funding in the amount of $40,751 from the United States Department of Justice to support the purchase of public safety laptops, tablet computers, and vehicle disinfectant equipment to support COVID-19 response. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that the City Council hereby accepts $40,751 in grant funding from the United States Department of Justice, and amends the Information Technology Department's FY 2020-2021 operating budget through Budget Amendment 21.004 in order to reflect an increase of $40,751. At a meeting of the City Council on 6/24/2020, a motion was made by Councilmember Nicolas, seconded by Councilmember Nagales, that this Resolution be approved. The motion passed.
