Mo;tien passed by allCen:l.missioners present. Chairman Breed. requested the Secretary to report on the actions the City Council took on the planning Commission's recommendations. The Secretary then gave the repart. NGS: J.H.Coffman & Sons Variance Application 8:06-8:32 Chair.man Breed opened the Public Hearing on the request of Associated Construc'tion in behalf of J .H. Coffman & Sons for Variance on Parking. Letter to Mr. Goss from Associated Construction was read. Minutes of the Planning Commission meeting of March 11, 1957 read regarding this application. Planning. Consul tant Barber recommended (a) The owner agree to deed restriction covering the fact that he will maintain parking on the PG&E easement so long alf PG&E will allow it. Further that he will agree in writing to the sat1staction of the City Attorney, to assume sole liability for the use af' the, :p'G&E property for parking. (b) Any use of the front area (between Sylvester Road and building) for parking be subject to approval by the Planning Commission, of the parking layout, i.e. bumper guard, space arl~ngement, planting etc. Commissioner Delaney suggested acondit1on that a three foot walkway along the west boundry of the Parking lot and protected by a bumper be one of the conditions of acceptance. Commiss.... ioner Delaney also suggested that we include the drawing numbers of F-314-0 and 315-C andarchi tee tura1 sketch number 56-22 2-5...57 1n the resolution, as the drawing under consideration. Commissioner Delaney requested Mr. Acheson at Associated Construction to close off the front 20 foot opening as shown on drawing F-314-C until parking plan 1s submitted. ~Jr. Acheson pointed out they had planned to pave walkway. There followed discussion on whether to pave the parking lot or not. Coimnissioner Delaney brought up the questian of how the cars would turnaround in the lot and Mr. Acheson pointed out they had provid,ad a turn around at the end of the parking area and felt since they had plenty of :boom this would not be a problem. COnmUssioner Robertson suggested the conditions include that 'all curbs be a.ccording to the Engineerts recommendation. Chairman Breed brought up the planting of the front of the bU1iding. Mr. Acheson pointed out that as contractors they could not agree that the o~v.ners vVQuld plant the front of the building. It was decided that when the area in the front was before the Connni.ssion for parking, the matter of planting could be disoussed at that time. Mr. Acheson presented a letter to hdimii J .H.Coftlnan regarding the number of employees and the expected parking they would require. Chairman Breed ordered the letter filed. Commissioner Robertson maved, seconded by Commissioner Martinez, that the hearing be closed. Motion passed by all Commissioners present. (can't.) As Mr. Reisch had not had time to go over these conditions, Chai1."1nan Breed stated we would. go on to the nextorder of business in order to allow Mr. Reisch time to study the City Engineer's recommendations. Chairn~n Breed requested the Secretary to read proposed letters to the CiA and latter notifying all Civic Groups as to the feeling of the Planning Commission on the use of the San Francisco International Alrport as a jet base. Commissioner Robertson gave a. report on the progress of the study by the San Mateo County Planning Council. Discussion followed as to the method of having Hearing and propermathod of protesting. Dlann.lng Consultant Barber recommended that the Commission ask through the City 006cil to ask the CM for an ex.nar to come out and tell us what fom of protest could be made regarding noise and ta1ce....of'f patte~. Reisch s.tated he was not to say whether Barrett could approve the recommendations as submitted and requested this matter be held over. He asked if the tiling of a final map of this subdivision could be waived. Pla.'tUling Consultant said he felt it eould not due to the faet that more than 5 lots were under consideration. Mr. Reiseh then asked the Commissioner to waive the requirements as requested by the state Highway as both pareels concerned were no longerovvned by Mr. Barrett.
