B~8 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 216 OF THE CITY OF ~OUTIt SAN FRANCISCO, ENTITLED: "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN FRANCISCO CREATING AND ESTABLISHING A PERSONNEL SYSTEM FOR SAID CITY," ADOPTED DECEMBER 15, 19~1. The City Council of the City of South San Francisco does ordain as follows: Section 1. Section 2 of ordinance No. 216 of the City of South San Francisco, entitled: "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO CREATING AND ESTABLISHING A PERSONNEL SYSTEM FOR SAID CI~f," adopted by the City Council of said city on the 15th day of December, 19~l, is hereby amended so that said section, as amended, shall read as follows: Section 2. There is hereby created a department of personnel which shall consist of a board of review and a personnel clerk. The board of review shall consist of fiv~ (5) members, to be appointed by the city council. The first board to be appointed 8hall, at its meeting, so classify its members by lot that one shg~l~l~ serve for a term which shall expire February 15~ 19~2~ one shall serve for a term which shall expire February 15, 19~ and one shall serve for a term which shall expire February 15, 19~6. At the expiration of each of the te~m~ so provided for, a successor shall be appointed by the city council for a term of six years. The two (2) additional members of the board provided for in this section, as amended, shall classify them- selves by lot so that one (1) shall serve for a term which will expire on February 15, 1954, and the other shall serve for a term which will expire on February 15, 1956. At the expiration of each of the terms of the members of said board, a successor shall be appointed by. the city council for a term of six (6) years. Vacancies on the board of review, from whatever cause, shall be filled by appointment by the city council for the unexpired term. Each member of the board shall serve until his successor is appointed and qualified. A four-fift~mvote of all the members of the city council shall be required to appoint a member to said board or to fill any vacancy thereon or to remove any member of said board from office prior to the expiration of his term of office. The members of the board of review shall be qualified electors of said city and shall serve without compensation. No person shall be appointed to said board who holds any salaried public office or employment, nor shall any member, while a member of the board or for a perio~ of one year CENTRAL RI~CORDS lL£ ..... after he has ceased for any reason to be a member, be eligible for appointment to any salaried office or employment in the service of the city or any city elective office. Introduced this 17th day of March, 1952.
