Box 711 (City Hall, 400 Grand Avenue) South San Francisco, CA City Council Resolution: RES 181-2020 File Number: 20-924 Enactment Number: RES 181-2020 RESOLUTION TO AMEND THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO SALARY SCHEDULE, TO ADJUST WAGES OF HOURLY EMPLOYEE CLASSIFICATIONS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CITY'S MINIMUM WAGE ORDINANCE AND TO ADJUST SALARIES FOR EXECUTIVE MANAGEMENT POSITIONS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE EXECUTIVE MANAGEMENT COMPENSATION PLAN WHEREAS, in August, 2019, City Council passed an ordinance to establish a local minimum wage rate of $15.00 per hour, to be increased annually on January 1 in accordance with increases to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the San Francisco -Oakland -San Jose region; and WHEREAS, the local minimum wage for South San Francisco will increase by 1.6% to $15.24 effective January 1, 2021; and WHEREAS, staff recommends a 1.6% cost -of -living adjustment for all hourly classifications in order to maintain internal alignment among related classifications, to be effective the first day of the pay period that includes January 1, 2021; and WHEREAS, in June, 2017 City Council approved the Executive Management Compensation Plan, which includes a provision to adjust salaries for non -safety positions based on the 60th percentile of a total compensation study of benchmark cities for fiscal year 2020-2021; and WHEREAS, based on the results of the total compensation study, staff recommends salary range adjustments for the classifications of Information Technology Director (1.27%), Parks and Recreation Director (2.78%), and Public Works Director (1.16%), effective the first day of the pay period that includes January 1, 2021. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of South San Francisco does hereby: 1. Amend the Salary and Wage Schedule for Executive Management to provide for a survey market adjustment for the classifications of Information Technology Director, Parks and Recreation Director, and Public Works Director, attached herein as Exhibit A, effective December 25, 2020. 2. Amend the Salary and Wage Schedule for the City of South San Francisco to reflect a 1.6% wage adjustment for all hourly employee classifications, attached herein as Exhibit B, effective December 25, 2020.
