MINUTES
SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO PLANNING COMMISSION
Special Meeting of October 22, 1992
Meeting Convened: 7 :30 P.M.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman Matteucci, Vice-Chairman Warren,
Commissioners Mantegani, Wendler and Zelmer
MEMBERS ABSENT: Commissioners Boblitt and DeZordo

Jim Paneck of Genentech described the effort to create a flexible Campus Plan for the
Genentech facilities.
Ken Kay of Ken Kay Associates - Landscape ArchitectslEnvironmental Planners - introduced
his staff and presented the Preliminary Genentech Corporate Campus Plan and asked the
Commissioners for comments and/or questions.
The consensus among the Commissioners and the Design Review Board members was that
the Campus Plan approach was acceptable. The Commissioners also commented that the plan
needs to provide and improve bicycle access, to develop a cohesive and workable parking
management plan, to provide more detail on the mixed pedestrian, circulation and parking
areas, to provide more plan details for the upper campus area, and acknowledge the Cabot,
Cabot & Forbes sculptural landmark. Among other comments the Design Review Board
members noted that the landscape plan was appropriate, and expressed the desire to discuss
the architectural principles at the next meeting. Both the Commissioners and the Board
members looked forward to the next plan review.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:00 P.M.
