File NOo ,509] ORDINANCE NO. 390 AN O~INAN~ OF T~ CITY OF SOUTH ~NCISCO ~STRI~ING PARKING ON T~ ~BLIC STREETS A~ IN T~ P~LIC AREA IN ~E B~NTWOOD BUSI~SS DISTRIC~ The City Council of the City of South San Francisco does ordain as follows: SectiOn 1. It shall be unlawful for any person to park along and upon the public streets or parking area hereinafter indicated, or cause to be parked upon such streets or parking area, any vehicle, as defined in the Motor Vehicle Code of the State of California, for a continuous period of more than two (2) hours between the hours of 11:00 o'clock A. M. and 6:00 o'clock P. M. on each Friday and Saturday occurring during the sixty (60) days immediately following the effective date of this ordinance. ~t the expiration of said sixty (60)-day period, the prohibition herein set forth shall cease to be in effect. The public streets and parking area hereinbefore referred to are as follows: (a) The public parking area located in the Brentwood Business District and commonly referred to as the "Brentwood Parking Lot?, which is bounded by Brentwood Drive, E1Camino Real, Hazelwood Drive, and Kenwood Way; (b) Kenwood Way for its entire length; (c) Those portions of Brentwood Drive and Hazelwood Drive which lie between the intersection thereof with Mosswood Way and the intersection thereof with E1Camino Real; (d) That portion of Northwood Drive which lies between the intersection thereof with Hazelwood Drive and the intersection thereof with Alida Way; (e) That portion of Rockwood Way which lies between the intersection thereof with Brentwood Drive and the intersection thereof with ~anor Drive. Section 2. It shall be the duty of the Superintendent of Streets to cause appropriate signs to be posted along and upon the public streets and parking area specified in the preceding section. Section 3. Any person, persons, or corporation who or which shall violate any portion of this ordimnce shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon Conviction thereof, shall be punished by a fine not exceeding the sum of FIFTY DOLLARS ($50.00), or by lmprison~ent for a period not exceeding thirty (30) days, or by both such fine and imprisonment. Section 4. This ordinance shall, upon its adoption, take effect lmediately as an urgency measure, a statement of the urgency being as follows: The conduct of the Spring track meet at the Tanforan Race Track in San Bruno has been the occasion for a great number of motorists to drive into the Brentwood Business District and to park their vehicles along and upon the public streets and public parking area therein, which situation has resulted in much traffic congestion and has, as a direct consequence thereof, caused serious hazards to the safety of persons and property, rendering It necessary to limit the period for which vehicles may be parked continuously during certain hours on Fridays and Saturdays while such track meet is being conducted. Unless the parking limitation hereinabove provided for shall take effect lmediately, serious detriment will result to the welfare and general well-being of the public. Section 5. This ordinance shall be published once as required by law and shall take effect as an urgency measure im~ediately upon its adoption. Introduced this 19th day of March 1956.
