File No. 509~ OI~DI NANC~ NO. 402 AN ORDINANCE OF TBE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 275 OF SAID CITY EN- TITLED: "AN ORDINANCE CREATING A CITY PLANNING COMMISSION FOR THE CITY OF 8OUTH SAN FRANCISCO", · HICH WAS PASSED AND ADOPTED ON THE 21ST DAY OF JUNE 1948 The City Council of the City of South San Francisco does ordain as follows: SECTION 1. Section i of the ordinance desi£nated in the title hereof is a~ended as follows: "Section 1. A City Planning Comaission is hereby created in and for the City of South San Francisco. Said City Planning C~Mlssion shall consist of seven (7) members, who shall be appointed by the Nayor with the approval of the City Council. The number of members of said Com- mission who are not officials of said City shall exceed the number of members who may be officers or employees of said City." SECTION 2. Section 4 of the ordinance designated in the title hereof is a~ended as follows: 'TSection 4. The members of the Planning Con~aission shall not receive any compensation for their services unless the City Council shall, by resolution, provide otherwise." SECTION 3. Section 5 of the ordinance designated in the title hereof is amended as follows: "Section 5. Ie=aediately upon their appoint- ment, the members shall organize as a City Planning Comission and shall elect a chaiman from a~ong their membership. The ter~ of office of such chair- nmn shall be a one (1)-year period. The members shall also appoint a secretary, who shall not be one of their number, who shall hold office during the pleasure of said City Planning Comaission, and who shall receive such compensation as the City Council shall establish by resolution· In case of absence of the chairman or secretary, the members of the Co~ission shall select a chairman and secretary pro tempore, as the case may be" SECTION 4. Section 7 of the ordinance designated in the title hereof is amended as follows: "Section 7. The City Planning Commission shall meet regularly each month, on the second and fourth Mondays thereof, at the Council Chambers in the City Hall of the City of South San Francisco. Special meetings ~ay be called at any time by the chairman, or by three (3) members, by serving written notice upon each member of the Commission at least three (3) hours before the time specified for the proposed meeting, which advance written notice may, however, be waived by any member provided that he so stipulate in writing. Four (4) members of the Commission shall constitute a quor~ for the transaction of business. The office of any member who fails to attend three (3) consecutive regular meetings of the City Planning Commission without a legitimate excuse shall automatically become vacant." SECTION 5. This ordinance shall be published once as required by law and shall take effect and be in force thirty (30) days from and after its adoption. Introduced this 16th day of July 1956. Passed and adopted as an ordinance of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting of the City ~ouncil of the city of ~outh ~an Francisco this 6th day of August ~ 1956, by the following vote: AYES, COUNCII~MEN G.
