Resolution authorizing the use of Development Impact Fees in an amount not to exceed $22,194.49 to upgrade
three air compressors used to refill self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA)equipment;and approving
budget amendment 21.023 amending the Fire Department’s operating budget for fiscal year 2020-2021.
WHEREAS,Fire Department staff recently identified new self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA)
equipment for replacement that is filled at a higher air pressure than current units; and
WHEREAS,due to safety standards,the Fire Department’s three air compressors are unable to meet these
higher fill pressures without upgrades; and
WHEREAS,in anticipation of the new SCBA equipment,and to enhance operational capability,the department
is requesting upgrades on all three air compressors; and
WHEREAS,the upgrades provide backwards compatibility and allow the air compressors to fill both new and
legacy SCBA units; and
WHEREAS,Fire Department staff have selected Bauer Compressor Inc.to perform the upgrades as they have
manufactured all three of the department’s air compressors; and
WHEREAS,the use of Development Impact Fees have been identified to fund the entire project as it benefits
all areas of the City of South San Francisco as the three air compressors have been strategically placed
throughout the Fire Department’s response area; and
WHEREAS,City Council now desires to authorize the use of Development Impact Fees to fund the upgrade of
three air compressors used to refill SCBA equipment.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED,by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that it
hereby:
1.Authorizes the appropriation of Development Impact Fees in an amount not to exceed $22,194.49 to
upgrade three air compressors used to refill self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA)equipment;
and
2.Approves budget amendment 21.023 amending the Fire Department’s operating budget for Fiscal Year
2020-21 in the amount of $22,194.49.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT,the City Council hereby authorizes the City Manager,or his designee,to
take any action consistent with the intent of this resolution.
