AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN
F~ANCI$CO AHEI~ING ZONING' ORDINANCE NO.
353, AS AMENDED, BY ADDING THERETO A
PROFESSIONAL EXECUTIVE RESEARCH DISTRICT
OR P-1 DISTRICT
The City Council of the City of South San Francisco
does ordain as follows:
Section l. The Zoning Ordinance of the City of
South San Francisco, being Ordinalce-'~No. 353 thereof, passed
and adopted on the 10th day of August 1954 and thereafter
· amended, is hereby further amended by adding thereto the
following new series of sections.
Section 4°50 PROFESSIONAL, EXECUTIVE AND
RESEARCH DISTRICT OR P-1 DISTRICT.
The following regula~ions shall apply in all
"P-I' Districts and shall be subject to the provisions of
Section 5 of this ordinance.
4.51 Uses Permitted
(a) General offices, executive and administra-
tive offices, clinics, and other uses which, in the opinion of
the planning Commission, are similar.
4.52 Uses Permitted, subject to first procurinK
a use permit in each case.
(a) Multiple dwellings, mortuaries, electronic
research laboratories, and other laboratories of a similar type
or nature, restaurants, service stations.
4.53 Signs
One (1) single-faced sign, not to exceed one
hundred (100) Square feet in area, may be erected for each
building site. Any such sign shall be erected flatwise on the
face of the building, and if lighted, shall be non-flashing,
non-revolving, and non-scintillating. No sign shall project

into any side or rear yard, or over any public street.
4.54 BuildinR HeiRht Limit

4.57 Fences

4.58 Parkin~ Required

formula:
1. Offices, restaurants, mot=unties, or clinics;
minimum of one (1) parking space for each two hundred (200)
square fee= of floor area;
2. Research or o=her laboratories, minimum of
one (1) parking space for each five hundred (500) square feet
of floor area;
3. Mo=els, minimum of one (1) parking space

4.59 Architectural Control
The same rules and regulations pertaining to
architeetural control in a "R-3", "¢", or "W' ~District shall
obtain with respect to all 'P-I"., Districts.
Section 2. This ordinance shall be published once
as required by law' and sb~ll take effect and be in force thirty
(30) days from and after its adoption.

Passed and adopted as an ordinance of the City of
South San Francisco at a reKular meeting of
the City Council of the City of South San Francisco this 16th
day of February 1959, by the following vote:
