PLANNING COMMISSION REORGANIZATION
Commissioner Romero is the new Chairperson and Commissioner Ochsenhirt is the new Vice Chairperson for the
year 2002. The Nominations went as follows:
Commissioner Teglia nominated Commissioner Romero for Vice Chairperson. There being no other
nominations a voice vote was taken and Commissioner Romero was voted Chairperson by a unanimous
voice vote. Commissioner Sim nominated Commissioner Ochsenhirt for Vice Chair. Chairperson
Meloni nominated Commissioner Teglia for vice chair. Commissioner Ochsenhirt was voted vice chair
by a majority vote. Chairperson Romero presented a plaque to Commissioner Meloni in recognition of
his good leadership in 2001.

Motion Te2:lia I Second Sim to approve the minutes. Commissioner Ochsenhirt abstained. Approved by
majority voice vote.

Britannia East Grand Master Plan (EIR, PUD, GP, UP-OI-006) to construct a phased development consisting
of nine office/R & D buildings totaling approximately 783,533 sq. ft., an 8,000 sq. ft. childcare facility, a
5,000 sq. ft. fitness center, 8,000 sq. ft. of restaurant Ire tail use and two (2) five-to seven-level parking
garages; a General Plan Amendment to delete the proposed East Grand Avenue roadway extension to Point
San Bruno Blvd.; and Design Review ofR & D Buildings and Parking Structure A (DR-OI-006).
Motion Sim I Second Ochsenhirt to continue. Unanimously approved.
ADMINISTRATIVE BUSINESS
3. Items from Staff
. Chief Planner Sparks noted that the Commission has a memo on the housing element and a study session
is scheduled on the item on January 31,2002.
. Chief Planner Sparks mentioned that the Planning Commissioners fustitute is on March 20-22 in
Monterey and wanted to know which Commissioners were interested in attending.
Vice Chairperson Romero noted that the Commissioners have attended the Monterey conference for
several years. He pointed out that the City's financial condition has dropped, and suggested it might be a
better use of the funds for the Commission to sponsor an event for the Chamber of Commerce, City
Council, and other Boards & Commissions. Assistant City Attorney Johnson pointed out that social
occasions do not require noticing, but if at any time a majority of any given board or commission are
together to discuss anything that has to do with the City, it may create an issue. Other Commissioners
were supportive of the Chair's suggestion but some preferred to attend the conference because of the
useful instruction they receive at the Planning COlnmissioners Conference.
4. Items from Commission
. Commissioner Ochsenhirt thanked the Commission for the Vice Chairperson vote and looks forward to
serving in that capacity in the coming year.
. Commissioner D'Angelo asked if the next meeting was a study session. Chief Planner Sparks noted that
it is a study session on the Housing Element. There will be a background packet distributed for that
meeting and the consultant will facilitate the meeting. Assistant City Attorney Johnson noted she will not
be in attendance but if the Commission finds it necessary to have an Attorney present she will make sure
one is at the meeting.
