HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrd 495-1964 ORDINANCE NO. ~95 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO AMENDING ORDINANCE NO.150 OF SAID CITY PASSED AND ADOPTED THE lST DAY OF APRIL, 1929, ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO ESTABLISHING REGULATIONS FOR THE ACCUMULATION, COLLECTION AND REMOVAL OF GARBAGE" The City Council of the City of South San Francisco does ordain as follows: I. Ordinance No.150 entitled "An Ordinance Of The City Of South San Francisco Establishing Regulations For the Accumulation, Collection And Removal Of Garbage" passed and adopted the 1st day of April, 1929, is hereby amended as hereinafter set forth. II. Section 15 of said Ordinance No.150 is hereby amended to read: Section 15. The City shall authorize, permit, regulate and control the collection and disposition of all refuse within the City limits. For this purpose, a contract may be entered into by the City with a responsible person, firm or cor- poration for the collection of refuse, garbage or other waste matter for any period of time not exceeding twenty- five years. It shall be unlawful for any person other than the person under contract with the City, or his duly authorized agents or subcontractors, to remove, transport or dispose of any refuse from any premises within the City, except as otherwise provided in this Ordinance or other Ordinances of said City. It shall be unlawful for any other person to interfere in any manner with the lawful operation of such authorized contractor or his author- ized agents or subcontractors. III, Section 19 of said Ordinance No.150 is hereby amend- ed to read: Section 19. The maximum rates for service to be charged by City's contract garbage or refuse collector for the collection or removal of garbage are hereby fixed as follows: 1. For private dwelling units, dry garbage only, in containers up to and including 30 gallons, for one collection per week ..................... $1.50 per month 2. For private dwelling units, dry garbage only, in containers up to and including 40 gallons, for one collection per week ..................... $1.70 per month 3. For private dwelling units, dry garbage only, a surcharge of twenty cents (20¢) per month may be charged for one collection per week for each 10 gallons or fraction thereof that the capac- ity of the container exceeds 40 gallons 4. For special pick-ups from resi- dential units such as brush, rub- bish and boxes - for each pick-up~ ...... $1.50 per cubic yard 5. For restaurants, hotels, cafes, stores and similar places of busi- ness, factories and industrial establishments, wet or dry garbage; for 25-gallon cans, the contents of which shall not exceed 70 pounds in weight for each can, 1 pick-up per week ....................... $1.50 per month 2 pick-ups per week ..................... $3.00 " " 3 pick-ups per week ..................... $4.50 " " 4 pick-ups per week ..................... $6.00 " " 5 pick-ups per week ..................... $7.50 " " 6 pick-ups per week ..................... $9.00 " " 55 gallon drums, 1 pick,up per week ................................. $2.50 " drum IV. Publication and effective date: This Ordinance shall be published once in the "Enterprise-Journal" as required by law and shall take effect and be in force thirty days after final passage and adoption.
