AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO AMENDING
ORDINANCE NO. 363 ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF
SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO RDGIILATING THE USE OF PUBLIC AND PRI-
VATE SEWERS AND DRAINS, PRIVATE DISPOSAL OF SEWAGE, USE
OF GARBAGE GRINDERS, AND THE DISCHARGE OF WATER AND WASTES
INTO THE PUBLIC SEWER SYSTEM, PUBLIC DRAINS, WATERCOURSES
AND CONTIGUOUS SHORE WATERS OF SAID CITY, AND PROVIDING
PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS."
BE IT ORDAINCED BY the City Council of the City of South San Francisco
that Ordinance No. 363 shall be amended as hereinafter set forth:
SECTION 1, SECTION 1.7 IS HEREBY AMENDED TO READ:
1.7: "Grease" shall mean grease, oil, fat or other ether-
soluble matter, and shall be expressed in parts per million
by weight.
SECTION 2. SECTION 4.4(c) IS HEREBY AMENDED TO READ:
4.4(c): Any water or waste which contains amounts of grease,
oil, fats or other material measurable as ether-soluble in
excess of three hundred (300) parts per million; except that
those persons who as of April 13, 1964 are discharging more
than three hundred (300) parts per million may have three (3)
years within which to make the necessary modifications in
plant, operation oF use in order to comply with this require-
. ment,~andlat~the~.~expiration of said three (3) year period,
said persons shall comply with this requirement.
SECTION 3, SECTION 4o5(b), (c) AND (d) ARE HEREBY AMENDED TO READ:
4.5(b): Suspended solids, or matter which upon dilution with
water or sewage results in the formation of suspended solids, in
excess of two hundred seventy-five (275) parts per million.
4.5(c): Biochemical Oxygen Demand in excess of two hundred
seventy-five (275) parts per million.
4.5(d): Grease, oil, fats or other material measurable as ether-
soluble in excess of sixty (60) parts per million.
SECTION 4, EFFECTIVE DATE:
This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force thirty (30)
days from and after its adoption.
SECTION 5. PUBLICATION:
The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this Ordinance
and cause the same to be published in the Enterprise-Journal,
a newspaper of general circulation, published and circulated
in said City, as required by law, within fifteen (15) days
after its passage.
