AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO
AMENDING ORDINANCE NO.449, AS AMENDED, ENTITLED
"AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO
RECREATING AND RE-ESTABLISHING A PERSONNEL SYSTEM
FOR THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO AND REPEALING
ORDINANCE N0.216 AND ALL INCONSISTENT ORDINANCES"
The City Council of the City of South San Francisco does
ordain as follows:
SECTION I. AMENDMENT OF ORDINANCE N0.449 (SEC. 6), ADDING,
ABOLISHING AND CHANGING TITLES OF POSITIONS IN THE COMPETI-
TIVE SERVICE:
Subsections A-l, 4, 5, 6 and 7 and B of Sec. 6 of Ordin-
ance No.449 entitled "An Ordinance Of The City Of South San Fran-
cisco Recreating And Re-establishing A Personnel System For The
City Of South San Francisco And Repealing Ordinance No.216 And
Ail Inconsistent Ordinances", as amended, is hereby amended, add-
ing, abolishing and changing titles of positions in the competi-
tive serviceand those not included in the competitive service
as follows:

NO.449, AS AMENDED:
Subsections A-i, 4, 5, 6 and 7 and B of Ordinance No.449,
as amended, the title of which is set forth in Section I above,
are hereby amended to read:

B. The following offices shall not be included in the com-
petitive service:
(1) Elective Officers
(2) Members of appointive Boards, Commissions and Committees
(3) City Manager, his secretary and assistants
(4) Civil Defense Director and Coordinator
(5) Director of Public Works
(6) City Planner
(7) Superintendent of Recreation and Parks
(8) Library Administrator
(9) Harbor Superintendent
(10) Harbor Attendants I and II
(11) Persons engaged under contract to supply expert,
e
professional or technical services for a definite
period of time
(12) Volunteer personnel such as volunteer firemen,
who receive no regular compensation from the City
(13) Casual, seasonal or emergency employees in any
office or department of the City, including but
not limited to part-time crossing guards and
intermittently employed Street Department employees
(14) Hourly or per diem employees
(15) Part-time employees
SECTION III. PUBLICATION AND EFFECTIVE DATE.
This Ordinance shall be published once in the Enterprise-
Journal, a newspaper of general circulation published in the
City of South San Francisco, as required by law, and shall take
effect and be in force thirty (30) days after its adoption.

Passed and adopted as an Ordinance of the City of South San
Francisco at a reaular meeting of the City Council of
the City of South San Francisco this 19th day of September ,
19 66, by the following vote:
