Box 711 (City Hall, 400 Grand Avenue) South San Francisco, CA City Council Resolution: RES O4-2022 File Number: 21-924 Enactment Number: RES O4-2022 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF A GRANT APPLICATION FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT FUNDS ALLOCATED THROUGH THE CITY OF DALY CITY TO SUPPORT PROJECT READ AND AUTHORIZING THE FINANCE DIRECTOR TO ADJUST THE FY2022 - 2023 REVENUE BUDGET UPON RECEIPT OF GRANT AWARD. WHEREAS, the City of South San Francisco ("City") Library Department established Project Read to assist adults and their families in reaching literacy goals; and WHEREAS, in addition to the services provided within the City, Project Read provides adult literacy services to approximately 40 individuals in Daly City; and WHEREAS, these services have been supported in previous years by Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding administered through the City of Daly City; and WHEREAS, staff recommends authorizing Project Read to apply for CDBG funding in the amount of $20,000 for Fiscal Year 2022-2023 to support adult literacy services in Daly City; and WHEREAS, staff further recommends authorizing the Director of Finance to adjust the FY2022-2023 revenue budget upon receipt of a grant award letter of any amount of CDBG funding awarded by the City of Daly City as a result of this grant application. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that the City Council hereby authorizes the filing of a grant application for Community Development Block Grant funds allocated through the City of Daly City for Fiscal Year 2022-2023. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that City Council of the City of South San Francisco hereby authorizes the Director of Finance to adjust the FY 2022-23 revenue budget upon receipt of notification that Daly City CDBG grant funds have been awarded to Project Read. RES 04-2022 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that the City Council hereby authorizes the City Manager to execute any necessary documents for the grant application and/or receipt of grant funds, and designates the City Manager of the City of South San Francisco as the signatory for CDBG funding. At a meeting of the City Council on 1/12/2022, a motion was made by Councilmember Coleman, seconded by Councilmember Flores, that this Resolution be approved. The motion passed.
