Box 711 (City Hall, 400 Grand Avenue) South San Francisco, CA Enactment Number: RES 17-2022 RESOLUTION ACCEPTING $216,885 FROM THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE FOR THE TOBACCO GRANT PROGRAM (PROPOSITION 56) TO BE USED FOR PERSONNEL OVERTIME, EQUIPMENT, AND TRAINING EXPENSES AND AMEND THE POLICE DEPARTMENT'S OPERATING BUDGET FOR FISCAL YEARS 2021-2025 BY APPROVING BUDGET AMENDMENT 22.045. WHEREAS, in April 2021, the Police Department submitted a grant application to California Department of Justice (Cal DOJ) for the Tobacco Grant Program (Proposition 56) for funding of personnel overtime, equipment and training expenses; and WHEREAS, the grant application was reviewed and approved by Cal DOJ in November 2021 and the Police Department was awarded $216,885; and WHEREAS, the grant funding will be used to augment the operating budget of the Police Department for Fiscal Years 2021-2025; and WHEREAS, staff recommends the acceptance of a grant in the amount of $216,885 for personnel overtime, equipment and training expenses from the California Department of Justice for the Tobacco Grant Program (Proposition 56). NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that the City Council hereby accepts the $216,885 grant from the California Department of Justice for the Tobacco Grant Program (Proposition 56) and amends the Fiscal Year 2021-2025 Police Department Operating Budget to reflect an increase of $216,885. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council does hereby approve Budget Amendment 22.045. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a grant agreement and any other necessary documents on behalf of the City to carry out the intent of this resolution, subject to approval as to form by the City Attorney. RES 17-2022 At a meeting of the City Council on 2/9/2022, a motion was made by Councilmember Addiego, seconded by Vice Mayor Nicolas, that this Resolution be approved. The motion passed.
