AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE 449, AS
AMENDED ENTITLED, "AN ORDINANCE OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO RECREATING
AND RE-ESTABLISHING A PERSONNEL SYSTEM
FOR THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO AND
REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 216 AND ALL
INCONSISTENT ORDINANCES."
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO DOES
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. AMENDMENT OF SECTION 15 OF ORDINANCE 449,
AS AMENDED.
Section.15 of Ordinance 449, passed March 21, 1960, and
as thereafter amended, is hereby amended to read:
Section 15. DEMOTION AND DISCHARGE.'
Employees may be discharged or demoted for cause
and the Rules and Regulations shall provide for the
exercise of said powers reserving to the City Council
the exercise of said power With respect to department
heads and to the City Manager the exercmse of said
power with respect to employees other than department
heads. A discharged department head may be reinstated
to the position in the competitive service held by the
department head immediately prior to appointment as
department head or to an equivalent position in the
classification. An employees discharged from a position
not in the competitive service to which said employee
was advanced from a position in the competitive servmce
may be reinstated to the position in the competitive
service held by said employee immediately prior to said
advancement or to an equivalent position in the classi-
fication.
SECTION 2. PUBLICATION AND EFFECTIVE DATE.
This Ordinance shall be published once in the Enterprise-
Journal, a newspaper of general circulation in the City of South
San Francisco, as required by law, and shall become effective
thirty (30) days from and after its adoption,
