RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE
OF $18,267 IN GRANT FUNDING FROM THE SAN
MATEO COUNTY SUMMER 2022 ENRICHMENT
GRANT PROGRAM TO SUPPORT COMMUNITY
LEARNING CENTER'S SUMMER PROGRAM, AND
APPROVING BUDGET AMENDMENT 22.057.
WHEREAS, the City of South San Francisco ("City") Library Department established the
Community Learning Center (CLC) to assist adults and their families in reaching educational goals; and
WHEREAS, acceptance of the grant contributes to the City's Strategic Plan under Priority #3:
Quality of Life, by strengthening and expanding CLC's summer program to support and enrich learning
programs for South San Francisco students; and
WHEREAS, the Library has been awarded $18,267 from the San Mateo County Summer 2022
Enrichment Grant Program; and
WHEREAS, funding will be used to support the Community Learning Center (CLC) in
providing expanded services through its Summer Program which serves students who live in or attend a
South San Francisco School; and
WHEREAS, the CLC summer program targets 3rd to 5th grade students. Grant -funding will
expand by adding 30 minutes a day, the implementation of a rising 6th grade component to serve up to
fifteen students, and end of program activities including a field trip to the California Academy of
Sciences in San Francisco and an onsite family celebration event; and
WHEREAS, staff recommends the acceptance of the grant in the amount of $18,267 to support
the 2022 Community Learning Center's Summer Program; and
WHEREAS, the grant funds will be used to amend Fiscal Year 2021-22 operating budget of
the Library Department via Budget Amendment 22.057.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco does hereby accept $18,267 from San Mateo County Summer 2022 Enrichment Grant
Program funds to fund the 2022 Community Learning Center's Summer Program and amend the Library
Department's 2021-2022 Operating Budget in order to reflect an increase of $18,267 via Budget
Amendment 22.057.

At a meeting of the City Council on 4/13/2022, a motion was made by Vice Mayor Nicolas,
seconded by Councilmember Coleman, that this Resolution be approved. The motion passed.
