HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrd 790-1979ORDINANCE NO, 790-79 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 6 OF ORDINANCE NO. 449, ADOPTED MARCH 21, 1960, ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO RECREATING AND RE-ESTABLISHING A PERSONNEL SYSTEM FOR THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO AND REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 216 AND ALL INCONSISTENT ORDINANCES." THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. AMENDMENT OF SECTION 6. Section 6 of Ordinance No. 449, adopted the 21st day of March, 1960, entitled "An Ordinance of the City of South San Francisco Recreating and Re-Establishing a Personnel System for the City of South San Francisco and Repealing Ordinance No. 216 and All Inconsistent Ordinances," as amended, is hereby amended to read: SECTION 6. COMPETITIVE SERVICE A. The following positions or offices shall be in the competitive service. Maint., Park, Public Works, Treatment Plant) Maintenance Worker II " " Maintenance Worker III " " Maintenance Worker IV " " Marina Attendant I Marina Attendant II Marina Attendant III Printer I Security Officer Supervisor Chemist Sweeper Operator Treatment Plant Equipment Operator/Serviceworker Treatment Plant Laboratory Technician Treatment Plant Mechanic Treatment Plant Mechanic-Electrician Treatment Plant Operator I Treatment Plant Operator II II II The following offices shall not be included in the competitive service: Elective Officers Members of appointive boards, commissions and committees City Manager, Assistant City Manager, and his assistants Civil Defense Director and Coordinator -3- Offices not included in competitive service, continued) Administrative Aide Administrative Intern Assistant Director of Public Works Chief of Police City Attorney Director of Community Development Director of Finance Director of Parks and Recreation Director of Public Services Fire Captain (Paramedic) Fire Chief Firefighter (Paramedic) Fire Marshal/Battalion Chief Library Administrator Police Officer II Police Officer - Motorcycle Police Technician Police Training Officer Persons engaged under contract to supply expert, professional or technical services for a definite period of time Volunteer personnel such as Volunteer Firefighters, who receive no regular compensation from the City Casual, seasonal or emergency employees in any office or department of the City, including but not limited to part-time Crossing Guards and intermittently employed Street Department employees Hourly or per diem employees Part-time employees SECTION 2. PUBLICATION AND EFFECTIVE DATE. This Ordinance shall be published once in the Enterprise-Journal, a newspaper of general circulation in the City of South San Francisco, as required by law, and shall become effective thirty (30) days from and after adoption.
