HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrd 804-1979ORDINANCE NO. 804-7q AN ORDINANCE DECLARING THE NEED FOR A REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY TO FUNCTION IN THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO AND DECLARING THE CITY COUNCIL TO BE THE REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY FOR THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO WHEREAS, the Community Redevelopment Law (Part. l, commencing with Section 33000, of Division 24 of the Health and Safety Code of the State of California), in Section 3310~ declares that there is, in the City of South San Francisco, a public body, corporate and politic, known as the redevelop- ment agency of the City; WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of South San Francisco has determined that there exists the need for a Redevelopment Agency in the City of South San Francisco in order to implement certain redevelopment projects as defined by Section 33020'et seq. of th~ Health and Safety Code of the State of California; WHEREAS, the provisions of the Community Redevelopment Law of 1963, Part 1 of Division 24 Sections 33000 et seqJ of the Health and Safety Code of the State of California provide' that the legislative body may declare itself to be the Redevelopment Agency and exercise all the rights, powers, duties, privileges and immunities vested by the aforesaid Community Redevelopment Law in an agency; CENTRAL- RE:C, ORI:)~ WHER' ~, the City Council of ti. ~ y of South San Francisco declaring itself to be the Redevelopment Agency and exercising all the rights, powers, duties, privileges and immunities vested by the Community Redevelopment Law in an Agency will serve the public interest and promote the public safety and welfare in an effective manner in that this public body is best able to serve the needs of the community to implement the purposes of the Community Redevelopment Law; NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of South San Francisco does ordain as follows: 1. That there exists the need for a Redevelopment Agency to function in the City of South San Francisco. 2. That the area within which the Redevelopment Agency shall functiOn is the City of South San Francisco. 3. That the City Council of South San Francisco hereby declares itself to be the Redevelopment Agency of the City of South San Francisco. 4. That by declaring itself to be the Redevelopment Agency, the City Council is serving the public interest and promoting the public safety and welfare in an effective manner. 5. The City Clerk is hereby directed to cause a certified copy of this ordinance to be filed in the office of the secretary of state. 6. This ordinance shall become effective 30 days from the date of its final passage and be subject to the provisions for referendum applicable to the ordinances of the City, pursuant to Sections 4050 et seq. of the Elections 2 Code of the State of California. 7. Within 15 days, the City Clerk shall cause each ordinance to be published at least once in a newspaper of general circulation published and circulated in the City, or if there is none, in a newspaPer o~ general circulation printed and published in the County and circulated in the City. First read and introduced at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of South San Francisco held December 5, 1979 and finally passed.and adopted at regular meeting of said City Council held December ]9, ]979 AYES NOES ABSENT by the following vote.
