AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 251, ENTITLED "AN
ORDINANCE TO REGULATE THE RATES, RULES AND PRACTICES
OF TAXICABS, BUSES AND RENT CARS OPERATING IN THE CITY
OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, PRESCRIBING TERMS AND CONDITIONS
UNDER WHICH SUCH OPERATIONS MAY BE CONDUCTED, PROVIDING
PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE AND REPEAL-
ING CONFLICTING ORDINANCES," AS AMENDED, AND PROVIDING
FOR AN INCREASE IN TAXICAB RATES
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
AMENDMENT OF SUBPARAGRAPHS 1, 2 AND 6 OF PARAGRAPH G OF
SECTION 13 OF ORDINANCE NO. 251, AS AMENDED.
Subparagraphs 1, 2 and 6 of Paragraph 13 of Ordinance No. 251, as
amended, adopted November 21, 1946, entitled "An Ordinance to Regulate the
Rates, Rules and Practices of Taxicabs, Buses and Rent Cars Operating in
the City of South San Francisco, Prescribing Terms and Conditions under which
Such Operations May be Conducted, Providing Penalties for the Violation of
this Ordinance and Repealing Conflicting Ordinances," are hereby amended to
read:
"Paragraph G: The rates fixed or charged or collected by the
owner or.driver of any taxicab as defined in Section 1 of this
Ordinance, except for trips to or from points outside of the City
of South San Francisco where said charge is fixed on a trip basis,
shall not exceed the following:
(1) For the first one-fourteenth mile or fraction thereof, one
dollar forty cents ($1.40).
(2) For each additional one-fourteenth mile or fraction thereof,
ten cents (10~).
(3) For waiting, forty cents for each two (2) minutes or fraction
thereof after the first five (5) minutes, except that the
rate per hour shall not exceed twelve dollars ($12.00)."

SECTION 2. PUBLICATION AND EFFECTIVE DATE.
This Ordinance shall be published once in the Enterprise-Journal, a
newspaper of general circulation in the City of South San Francisco, as re-
quired by law, and shall become effective thirty (30) days from and after
its adoption.

Passed and adopted as an Ordinance of the City of South San Francisco
at ~ adjourned meeting of the City Council of the City of South San
Franicsco this 21stday of May , 1981, by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmen Ronald G. Acosta, Mark N. Addiego, Emanuele N. Damonte,
Gus Nicolopulos; and Councilwoman Roberta Cerri Teqlia ,
