RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ACCEPTANCE OF
$232,387.53 IN FUNDRAISING VIA THE SOUTH SAN
FRANCISCO PUBLIC LIBRARY FOUNDATION,
APPROPRIATING THESE NEW FUNDS AS WELL AS
FUNDING IN THE AMOUNT OF $9,361,310
PREVIOUSLY ACCEPTED BY CITY COUNCIL AND
AMENDING THE FISCAL YEAR 2022-23 BUDGET IN
THE AMOUNT OF $9,593,697.53 VIA BUDGET
AMENDMENT 23.017 TO SUPPORT THE CAPITAL
IMPROVEMENT PROJECT FOR THE NEW LIBRARY,
PARKS AND RECREATION CENTER.
WHEREAS, a funding gap exists for the Community Civic Center project which is being
addressed through a capital fundraising campaign; and
WHEREAS, the South San Francisco Public Library Foundation (SSFPL Foundation) is a
501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused on fundraising efforts to support the South San Francisco
Public Library; and
WHEREAS, the SSFPL Foundation and the City of South San Francisco have a contract
confirming the fundraising relationship between the two parties and authorizing the SSFPL Foundation
to accept grants to be transferred to the City; and
WHEREAS, SSFPL Foundation received $150,000 in donations from the Rotary Club of
South San Francisco; and
WHEREAS, SSFPL Foundation received $82,387.53 in donations from local residents,
businesses and organizations; and
WHEREAS, the SSFPL Foundation desires to provide the donation funds to the City to
support the Community Civic Center project; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has previously approved donations in the amount of $9,361,310
to support the project; and
WHEREAS, the funds will be used to amend Fiscal Year (FY) 2022-2023 Operating Budget of
the Library Department via Budget Amendment 23.017.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that
the City Council hereby accepts $232,387.53 in fundraising via the South San Francisco Public Library
Foundation, appropriating these new funds as well as funding in the amount of $9,361,310 previously
accepted by City Council.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council amends the fiscal year 2022-23 budget from
$9,361,310 to $9,593,697.53 in order to reflect an increase of $232,387.53, pursuant to budget
amendment 23.017.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council hereby authorizes the City to execute the
documents necessary to accept the grant funding and take any other actions necessary to carry out the
intent of this resolution on behalf of the City Council, subject to approval as to form by the City
Attorney.
At a meeting of the City Council on 11/9/2022, a motion was made by Vice Mayor Nicolas, seconded by
Councilmember Flores, that this Resolution be approved. The motion passed.
