AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO
MUNICIPAL CODE AND ORDINANCE NO. 675, AS AMENDED,
ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE REGULATING CONDUCT IN
PARKS, PROVIDING.FOR ENFORCEMENT, AND PRESCRIBING
PENALTIES FOR'VIOLATIONS"
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I.
AMENDMENT OF SECTION 10.36.010 D OF THE SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO
MUNI'CIPAL CODEAND'SECTI'ON 2.3 OF ORDINANCE NO. 675
Section 10.36.010 D of the South San Francisco Municipal Code and Section 2.3
of Ordinance No. 675 are hereby amended to read as follows:
"'Park" means a park, reservation, playground, swimming pool, recreation
center, harbor, common green or any other area in the City, owned or
used by the City and devoted to active or passive recreation."
SECTION II. ADDITION OF SECTION 10.36.010 G TO THE SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO
MUNICIPAL CODE
There is hereby added Section 10.36.010 G to the South San Francisco Municipal
Code, which reads as follows:
"'Picnic area' means an area where picnic facilities such as tables,
benches, stoves, water, toilets and containers for garbage and refuse
are located. Those areas in the City parks which are picnic areas
are shown on Exhibita A through C, attached hereto and incorporated
herein by reference, and on file in the office of the City Clerk and
with the Parks and Recreation Department."
SECTION III. AMENDMENT OF SECTION 10.36.020 E OF THE SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO
MUNICIPAL CODE AND SECTION 3.5 OF ORDINANCE NO. 675
Section 10.36.020 E of the South San Francisco Municipal Code and Section 3.5
of Ordinance No. 675 are hereby amended to read as follows:
"Go upon any lawn or grass plot, where prohibited by the Superintend-
ent of Parks and Landsca, pe, and where such prohibition is indicated
by legible signs."
SECTION IV. AMENDMENT OF SECTION 10.36.020 H OF THE SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO
MUNICIPAL CODE AND SECTION 3.8 OF ORDINANCE NO. 675

"Climb any tree or walk, stand or sit upon monuments, vases, foun-
tains, railings, or fences, or upon any other property not desig-
nated or customarily used for such purposes."
SECTION V. AMENDMENT OF SECTION 10.36.070 OF THE SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO
.MUNICIPAL CODE AND SECTION 8,1 OF ORDINANCE NO. 675
Section 10.36.070 of the South San Francisco Municipal Code and Section 8.1
of Ordinance No. 675 are hereby amended as follows:
"Alcoholic Beverage Consumption. No person shall possess or consume
alcoholic beverages in any City park, except:

Beer or light wine having alcoholic content not to exceed 12 percent
(12%) may be possessed and consumed in a park by a person legally
entitled to possess and consume the same, provided.
The beer or light wine is for use and consumption as part of a
picnic activity in a picnic area as defined in Section 10.36.010 G
herein.
2. The use and consumption are conducted in an orderly manner, and
3. The person possessing such beer or light wine proceeds directly
to and directly from such designated areas.
The consumption of any alcoholic beverage, including beer and wine,
and the possession of any can, bottle or other receptacle containing
any alcoholic beverage which has been opened, or a seal broken, or
the contents of which have been partially removed is specifically
prohibited in Paradise Valley, Brentwood and Clay Avenue Parks, and
any area such as tot lots and playgrounds where children are frequent-
ly present. In addition, the consumption of any alcoholic beverage,
including beer and wine, is specifically prohibited in all parking
lots in or servicing City parks.

The dispensing of all types of alcoholic beverages by a licensee under
a food and bar concession from the City or the consumption of such
beverage on the premises of such concessionaire is permitted. Applic-
ation for such food and bar concession shall be made to the Parks and
Recreation Commission."
SECTION VI.
AMENDMENT OF SECTION 10.36.280 OF THE SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO
MUNICIPAL CODE AND SECTION 15 OF ORDINANCE NO. 675, AS AMENDED
BY ORDINANCE NO. 762
Section 10.36.280 ofthe South San Francisco Municipal Code and Section 15 of
Ordinance No. 675, as amended by Ordinance No. 762, are hereby amended to read as
follows:
"Penalty for Violations. Any person violating any of the provisions

of this Chapter shall be deemed guilty of an infraction and, upon
conviction, such person shall be punished as provided in Section
36900 of the Government Code."
SECTION VII. PUBLICATIONiAND EFFECTIVE DATE.
This Ordinance shall be published once in the "Enterprise Journal", a news-
paper of general circulation in the City of South San Francisco, as required by
law, and shall become effective thirty (30) days from and after its adoption.
