RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF
$28,083 IN GRANT FUNDING FROM THE SAN MATEO
COUNTY SUMMER 2023 ENRICHMENT GRANT
PROGRAM TO SUPPORT THE GENE MULLIN
COMMUNITY LEARNING CENTER'S SUMMER 2023
PROGRAM, AND APPROVING BUDGET AMENDMENT
# 23.046.
WHEREAS, in January 2022, the City of South San Francisco (City) Library Department
established the Gene Mullin Community Learning Center (CLC) to assist adults and their children in
reaching educational goals; and
WHEREAS, the Library has been awarded $28,083 from the San Mateo County Summer 2023
Enrichment Grant Program; and
WHEREAS, funding will be used to support the CLC in providing expanded services through its
Summer Program, which serves 3rd to 5th grade students who live in or attend a City School; and
WHEREAS, acceptance of the grant contributes to the City's Strategic Plan under Priority #2:
Quality of Life, by strengthening and expanding CLC's summer program to support and enrich learning
programs for South San Francisco students; and
WHEREAS, the grant funds will be used to amend Fiscal Year 2022-23 operating budget of the
Library Department via Budget Amendment # 23.046.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of South San Francisco
does hereby accept $28,083 from San Mateo County Summer 2023 Enrichment Grant Program funds to
fund the 2023 Gene Mullin Community Learning Center's Summer Program.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council approves Budget Amendment # 23.046 to
amend the Library Department's 2022-2023 Operating Budget in order to reflect an increase of $28,083.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council hereby authorizes the City Manager to
execute the documents necessary to accept the grant funding and take any other actions necessary to carry
out the intent of this resolution on behalf of the City Council, subject to approval as to form by the City
Attorney.

At a meeting of the City Council on 2/22/2023, a motion was made by Vice Mayor Nagales,
seconded by Councilmember Addiego, that this Resolution be approved. The motion passed.
