RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF
$10,000 IN DONATION FUNDING FROM ABBVIE,
$10,000 FROM SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO
SCAVENGER'S COMPANY, $5,000 FROM AMGEN,
$5,000 FROM GENENTECH, AND $1,000 FROM THE
SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO ROTARY CLUB TO SUPPORT
THE SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO VOLUNTEER GALA
AND APPROVING BUDGET AMENDMENT 22.074
WHEREAS, in recognition of its dedicated volunteers, the City of South San Francisco ("City")
organized a Volunteer Gala which took place on April 7, 2023, with over 250 volunteers in attendance which
provides attendees with a free dinner and minor items of recognition for the people celebrated for their; and
WHEREAS, the Volunteer Gala provides attendees with a free dinner and minor items of
recognition for the people celebrated for their volunteer efforts; and
WHEREAS, in support of the Volunteer Gala, the City Manager's Department received generous
donations from AbbVie, the South San Francisco Scavenger's Company, Amgen, Genentech, and the South
San Francisco Rotary Club; and
WHEREAS, AbbVie donated $10,000, the South San Francisco Scavenger's Company donated
$10,000, Amgen donated $5,000, Genentech donated $5,000, and the South San Francisco Rotary Club
donated $1,000; and
WHEREAS, the total donation between the five donors amounted to $31,000, and upon
acceptance will be used to offset the Volunteer Gala cost and to amend the City Manager Department's FY
2022-2023 Operating Budget via Budget Amendment 22.074; and
WHEREAS, staff recommends that the City Council accept the $10,000 in donation funding from
AbbVie, $10,000 from South San Francisco Scavenger's Company, $5,000 from Amgen, $5,000 from
Genentech, and $1,000 from the South San Francisco Rotary Club to support the rental of space, meals for
attendees, photographs of the event, minor commemorative items and similar event costs for South San
Francisco Volunteer Gala and approve Budget Amendment 22.074.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of South San Francisco
hereby accepts $31,000 in donations in the respective amounts state above from AbbVie, the South San
Francisco Scavenger's Company, Amgen, Genentech, and the South San Francisco Rotary Club to support
the South San Francisco Volunteer Gala.

At a meeting of the City Council on 6/28/2023, a motion was made by Councilmember Addiego,
seconded by Councilmember Coleman, that this Resolution be approved. The motion passed.
