HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrd 1147-1994ORDINANCE NO. 1147-94 AN ORDINANCE OF THE SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO CITY COUNCIL AMENDING CHAPTER 3.12 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE BY ADDING AND DELETING CERTAIN POSITIONS TO AND FROM THE COMPETITIVE AND NON-COMPETITIVE SERVICE THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Chapter 3.12 of the South San Francisco Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: Chapter 3.12 COMPETITIVE AND NONCOMPETITIVE SERVICE Sections: 3.12.010 3.12.020 Positions Discrimination. 3.12.010 Positions. (a) Competitive Service. The following positions or offices shall be in the competitive service. The City Council may add positions or offices to the competitive service by amending this section: Parking meter collector- maintenance repairman Personnel assistant Personnel clerk Police clerk Police records supervisor Secretary I Secretary II Senior planner Senior police clerk Senior typist clerk Supervising communications dispatcher Typist-clerk (2) Library. The following officers shall not be included in the competitive service: Elective officers Members of appointive boards, commissions and committees city manager Apprentice wastewater treatment plant operator Assistant city attorney Assistant city manager Associate engineer (Grant Funded) Courier Chief of police Chief planner City attorney Communications system manager Community Development block grant coordinator Construction Inspector (Grant Funded) Deputy city attorney Director of finance Director of economic & Community Development Director of parks, recreation and community services Director of public works/City Engineer Director of WQCP Economic development coordinator Fire chief Fire marshal Housing & commercial rehab. specialist Library director Personnel director Police service technician Persons engaged under contract to supply expert, professional or technical services for a definite period of time Secretary to the City Manager Secretary II-City Manager's office Typist Clerk (Grant Funded) Volunteer personnel such as volunteer firefighters, who receive no regular compensation from the city. 3 Casual, seasonal or emergency employees in any office or department of the city, including but not limited to part-time crossing guards and intermittently employed street department employees Hourly or per diem employees Part-time employees, excluding the part-time regular Grant Funded employees, covered under competitive service. SECTION 2. SEVERABILITY In the event any section or portion of this ordinance shall be determined invalid or unconstitutional, such section or portion shall be deemed severable and all other sections or portions hereof shall remain in full force and effect. SECTION 3. PUBLICATION AND EFFECTIVE DATE. This ordinance shall be published once, with the names of those City Councilmembers voting for or against it, for at least fifteen (15) days, in the Enterprise-Journal, a newspaper of general circulation in the City of South San Francisco, as required by law, and shall become effective thirty (30) days from and after its adoption.
