Dear Members of the Grand Jury:
This correspondence is in response to the Civil Grand Jury Report entitled, “Bike Safety in San
Mateo County: Making Bicycling Safer in the County” (“Report”) that was released on July 10,
2023.
The City Council of the City of South San Francisco agrees with the Grand Jury’s
recommendations. Implementation of R1, R3, R4, R5 and R7 have been implemented or
implemented in part. Recommendations R1, R2, R6 and R7 will be implemented in the near
future. Authorization to submit this letter was approved by the City Council at a public meeting
on September 27, 2023.
Additionally, the City of South San Francisco and the South San Franciso Police Department
plans to complete R1 and R2 on or before December 31, 2023; R6 on or before June 3, 2024 and
R7 on or before February 1, 2024.
