RESOLUTION ACCEPTING AN URBAN AREA
SECURITY INITIATIVE GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF
$75,000 TO ENHANCE SECURITY AND ACCESS FOR
FIRE STATION 64 LOCATED AT 2350 GALWAY DRIVE;
APPROVING BUDGET AMENDMENT 24-021 TO THE
FIRE DEPARTMENT OPERATING BUDGET IN THE
AMOUNT OF $75,000 AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH
THE CITY AND COUNTY OF SAN FRANCISCO URBAN
AREA SECURITY INITIATIVE ACCEPTING FY 2023
GRANT FUNDS.
WHEREAS, the City of South San Francisco ("City") staff recommends that the City Council
adopt a resolution accepting an Urban Area Security Initiative grant in the amount of $75,000 to enhance
security and access for Fire Station 64 located at 2350 Galway Drive; and
WHEREAS, in 2022, Fire Department personnel applied for station security enhancements
through the Urban Area Security Initiatives Grant Program (UASI) focusing on the program's priorities of
hardening public safety infrastructure; and
WHEREAS, Fire Department staff has identified the need for enhanced security at Fire Station 64
as standards for public safety infrastructure have evolved since the station's construction in 1970; and
WHEREAS, UASI Grant funds were requested and approved to install north and south gates
along Fire Station 64's Galway Drive entrances, allowing for the access of authorized vehicles onto the
property; and
WHEREAS, acceptance of the UASI grant funds do not require City matching funds and approval
of budget adjustment 24-021 will increase the Fire Department operating budget in the amount of $75,000.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of South San Francisco
does hereby take the following actions:
1.Accepts an Urban Area Security Initiative grant in the amount of $75,000 to enhance security
and access for Fire Station 64 located at 2350 Galway Drive.
2.Approves budget amendment 24-021 to the Fire Department operating budget in the amount of
$75,000.

3.Authorizes the City Manager to enter into an agreement the City and County of San Francisco
Urban Area Security Initiative, accepting the FY 2023 grant funds.
4.Authorizes the City Manager to take any other action consistent with carrying out the intent of
this resolution.
At a meeting of the City Council on 12/13/2023, a motion was made by Councilmember Nagales,
seconded by Vice Mayor Flores, that this Resolution be approved. The motion passed.
