PUBLIC COMMENTS — comments are limited to items on the Special Meeting Agenda. None. ADMINISTRATIVE BUSINESS 1. Report regarding Boards and Commissions interviews and appointments to the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee, Cultural Arts Commission, Equity and Public Safety Commission, Housing Authority, Library Board, Measure W Citizens' Oversight Committee, and Youth Commission. (Rosa Govea Acosta, City Clerk). City Clerk Govea Acosta presented the report and introduced candidates. a) Interview Applicant for Youth Commission: 6:30 p.m. Alejandra Ramirez The council interviewed applicant Ramirez. b) Interview Applicants for Multiple Positions: 6:40 p.m. Vivian Ramos 6:50 p.m. Greg Turner 7:00 p.m. Hazelle Fernandez 7:10 p.m. Sam Chouli 7:20 p.m. Mikaela Dela Cruz Ingco 7:30 p.m. Alex Lau The council interviewed applicants Ramos, Fernandez, and Lau. Applicant Turner did not attend the meeting to be interviewed, and applicants Chouli and Dela Cruz Ingco withdrew their applications before interviews. c) Interview Applicant for Library Board: 7:40 p.m. Catherine Abalos The council interviewed applicant Abalos. d) Interview Applicant for Equity and Public Safety Commission: 7:50 p.m. Bianca Bedigian The council interviewed applicant Bedigian. e) Interview Applicant for Multiple Positions (Housing Authority and Library Board): 8:00 p.m. Nestor Nunez The council interviewed applicant Nunez. f) Discussion and consideration of appointment of applicants to the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee. The Council may appoint one applicant to a partial term expiring July 19, 2024. No applicants for consideration — continue recruitment. g) Discussion and consideration of the appointment of applicants to the Cultural Arts Commission. The Council may appoint one applicant to a partial term expiring June 13, 2024 and one applicant to a partial term expiring June 13, 2026. Applicants: Fernandez, Ramos After discussion and voting, the Council appointed the following applicants to the Cultural Arts Commission. • Applicant Hazelle Fernandez to a partial term expiring June 13, 2024. Motion— Councilmember Nicolas/Second— Vice Mayor Flores: To appoint Applicant Hazelle Fernandez to a partial term expiring June 13, 2024. Unanimously approved. • Applicant Vivian Ramos to a partial term expiring June 13, 2026. Motion— Councilmember Nagales/Second— Councilmember Nicolas: To appoint Applicant Vivian Ramos to a partial term expiring June 13, 2026. Unanimously approved. h) Discussion and consideration of applicants to the Equity and Public Safety Commission. The Council may appoint one applicant to a two-year expiring February 21, 2026 or four-year term expiring February 21, 2028. Applicants: Bedigian, Fernandez, Ramos After discussion and voting, the Council appointed Applicant Bianca Bedigian to the Equity and Public Safety Commission for a four-year term expiring February 21, 2028. Bedigian to a four-year term expiring February 21, 2028. Unanimously approved. i) Discussion and consideration of applicants to the Housing Authority. The Council may appoint one applicant to a partial term expiring March 31, 2025. Applicants: Fernandez, Nunez After discussion and voting, the Council appointed Applicant Nestor Nunez to the Housing Authority to a partial term expiring March 31, 2025. Motion— Councilmember Addiego/Second— Councilmember Nicolas: To appoint Applicant Nestor Nunez to a partial term expiring March 31, 2025 by roll call vote: AYES: Councilmembers Addiego, Nagales, Nicolas, and Mayor Coleman; NAYS: None; ABSENT: None; ABSTAIN: Vice Mayor Flores. j) Discussion and consideration of appointment of applicant to the Library Board. The Council may appoint one applicant to a partial term expiring June 30, 2024. Applicants: Abalos, Fernandez, Lau, Nunez After discussion and voting, the Council appointed Applicant Catherine Abalos to the Library Board to a partial term expiring June 30, 2024. Motion— Councilmember Addiego/Second— Councilmember Nicolas: To appoint Applicant Catherine Abalos to a partial term expiring June 30, 2024. Unanimously approved. k) Discussion and consideration of appointment of applicant to the Measure W Citizens' Oversight Committee. The Council may appoint one applicant to a non -expiring term. No applicants for consideration — continue recruitment. 1) Discussion and consideration of appointment of applicant to the Youth Commission. The council may appoint two applicants to a two-year term expiring February 21, 2026. Applicants: Ramirez, Lau After discussion and voting, the Council appointed Applicants Alejandra Ramirez and Alex Lau to the Youth Commission for a two-year term expiring February 21, 2026. Motion— Councilmember Nicolas/Second— Vice Mayor Flores to appoint Applicants Alejandra Ramirez and Alex Lau to the Youth Commission for a two-year term expiring February 21, 2026. Unanimously approved.
