HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 3643-1962RESOLUTION NO. 3643 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AUTHORIZING THE WORK AND CALLING FOR BIDS ON THE IMPROVEMENT OF TREAT- PENT WORKS ENLARGEMENTS PROJECT UNIT #1 - TREATMENT WORKS ENLARGEMENTS. RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco, California, that WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works and Project En- gineer have submitted plans and specifications for the Treat- ment Works Enlargements Project Unit #1 - Treatment Works En- largements entitled "Contract Documents and Technical Speci- fications for the Construction of Wastes Pumping and Treatment Works Enlargements Project Unit #1 - Treatment Works Enlarge- ments'', and, WHEREAS, the City Council desires to approve said plans and specifications, authorize the work and call for sealed pro- posals. NOW, THRR~FORE, IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that: 1. The plans and specifications for the Treatment Works Enlargements Project Unit #1 - Treatment Works Enlargements en- titled "Contract Documents and Technical Specifications for the Construction of Wastes Pumping and Treatment Works Enlarge- ments Project Unit #1 - Treatment Works Enlargements" are here- by approved and the work therein provided is hereby authorized, said plans and specifications are referred to and by this refer- ence made a part hereof the same as if recited herein verbatim. 2. The City Clerk of said City is hereby directed to publish by two (2) consecutive insertions in the Enterprise- Journal, a newspaper published and circulated in said City, a notice inviting sealed proposals or bids for the public im- provement of Treatment Works Enlargements Project Unit #1 - [I I Iii I I [ Treatment Works Enlar§ementss and referrin§ to the plans and specifications on file in the office of the City Clerks the first of which publication sb~ll be at least ten (10) days prior to the time fixed for opening bids. A copy of said notice entitled "Notice to Contractors" is attached hereto and referred to and by this reference made a part hereof as if set forth verbatim herein. All proposals or bids shall be accompanied by a cashier's or certified check payable to the order of the City of South San Franciscos in an amount equal to not less than ten per cent (lO~) of the bid 'figures or by a bond in said amount drawn in favor of said City and executed by a corporate sure- ty. Said check shall he-forfeited by bidders or said bond shall become payable to said City in case the lowest respons- ible bidder (or bidders) depositing the same does nots within the time set forth in said plans and specificationss enter to a contract with said Citys the faithful performance of which shall be ~uaranteed by an undertaking in the amount of one hundred per cent (lO0~) of the sum bids said undertaking being that of a corporate surety satisfactory to said City Councils and which contract shall be accompanied by a labor and materials bond of a corporate suretys also in a sum equal to one hundred per cent (100%) of the amount of said bids as required by the provisions of Title Is Division 5s Chapter 3s of the Government Code of the State of California. In case of a for- feitures as provided for in the preceding sentences the de- faulting bidder shall be liable to said City for any additional expense to which it may reasonably be put in connection with obtaining full and complete performance of the particular work of improvement with which this Notice to Contractors is con- cerned. 2, 3. Bids will be received by the City of South San Fran- cisco, California, at the office of the City Clerk of said City, City Mall, Grand Avenue, South San Francisco, California, at or before the hour of 8 p.m. on the fourth day of February, 1963, said time not being less than ten (10) days from the first publication of notice, and the bids will be publicly opened, examined and declared at said time and place and award will thereafter be made by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco to the lowest responsible bidder or bidders, subject, however, to the right of said City Council to reject any and all bids, which right is hereby reserved. It ~shall be incumbent upon the successful bidder to pay the min~[ imum h~rly,~vages required to be paid to the various laborers and m~chanic~ employed directly upon the site of the work and in case of c0/~lict with ~e prevailing rates determined by the City Council, the maximum rate shall obtain. No bid ~vi11 be accepted from a Contractor who is not licensed in accordance with the law, under the provisions of Chapter791, Statutue~.~ of 1929, as amended, or Chapter 37, Statutes of 1939, as amended. Each bid shall be made out on a bid form to be obtained at the of the City's Consulting Engineers, Senks and Adamson, 543 Byron Palo Alto, California, in conjunction with the~,~ontract documents.
