A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN
FRANCISCO APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS, AUTH-
ORIZING THE WORK AND CALLING FOR BIDS ON THE IMPROVE-
MENT OF TREATMENT WORKS ENLARGEMENTS PROJECT UNIT II -
PUMPING PLANTS, FORCE MAIN AND TRUNK SEWERS
RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco, California, that
WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works and Project Engineer
have submitted plans and specifications for the Treatment Works
Enlargements Project Unit II - Pumping Plants, Force Main and
Trunk Sewers, entitled "Contract Documents and Technical Speci-
fications for the Construction of Wastes Pumping and Treatment
Works Enlargements Project Unit II - Pumping Plants, Force Main
and Trunk Sewers"; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to approve said plans
and specifications, authorize the work and call for sealed pro-
posals.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that:
1. The plans and specifications for the Treatment Works
Enlargements Project Unit II - Pumping Plants, Force Main and
Trunk Sewers, entitled "Contract Documents and Technical Speci-
fications for the Construction of Wastes Pumping and Treatment
Works Enlargements Project Unit II - Pumping Plants, Force Main
and Trunk Sewers", are hereby approved and the work therein pro-
vided is hereby authorized, said plans and specifications are
referred to and by this reference made a part hereof the same
as if recited herein verbatim.
2. The City Clerk of said City is hereby directed to
publish by two (2) consecutive insertions in the Enterprise-
Journal, a newspaper published and circulated in said City, a
notice inviting sealed proposals or bids for the public improve-
ment of Treatment Works Enlargements Project Unit II - Pumping
Plants, Force Main and Trunk Sewers~ and referring to the plans
and specifications on file in the office of the City Clerk~
the first of which publications shall be at least ten (10) days
prior to the time fixed for opening bids. A copy of said notice
entitled "Notice to Contractors" is attached hereto and referred
to and by this reference made a part hereof as if set forth
verbatim herein.
All proposals or bids shall be accompanied by a cashier's
or certified check payable to the order of the City of South
San Francisco, in an amount equal to not less than ten per cent
(10%) of the bid figure, or by a bond in said amount drawn in
favor of said City and executed by a corporate surety. Said
check shall be forfeited by bidder, or said bond shall become
payable to said City in case the lowest responsible bidder (or
bidders) depositing the same does not, within the time set forth
in said plans and specifications, enter into a contract with
said City, the faithful performance of which shall be guaranteed
by an undertaking in the amount of one hundred per cent (100%)
of the sum bid, said undertaking being that of a corporate
surety satisfactory to said City Council~ and which contract
shall be accompanied by a labor and materials bond of a co,po-
rate surety, also in a sum equal to one hundred per cent (10(S)
of the amount of said bid, as required b~ the provisions of
Title I, Division 5, Chapter B, of the Government Code of the
State of California. In case of a forfeiture, as provided for
in the preceding sentence, the defaulting bidder shall be liable
to said City for any additional expense to which it may reason-
ably be put in connection with obtaining full and complete
performance of the particular work of improvement with which
this Notice to Contractors is concerned.
3. Bids will be received by the City of South San
