A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO APPROVING
SPECIFICATIONS AUTHORIZING THE WORK AND
CALLING FOR BIDS ON THE IMPROVEMENT OF
COLMA CREEK AND TRIBUTARIES
RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco, California, that
WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works has submitted
specifications for the dredging of Colma Creek and Tribu-
taries entitled, "Specifications for Dredging Colmm Creek
and Tributaries - 1963", and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to approve said
specifications, authorize the work and call for sealed
proposals.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that
1. The specifications for the dredging of Colma Creek
and Tributaries entitled, "Specifications for Dredging Colma
Creek and Tributaries 1963", are hereby approved and the work
therein provided is hereby authorized, said specifications
are referred to and by this reference made a part hereof
the same as if recited herein verbatim.
2. The City Clerk of said City is hereby directed to
publish by two (2)consecutive insertions in the Enterprise-
Journal, a newspaper published and circulated in said City,
a notice inviting sealed proposals or bids for the dredging
of Colma Creek and Tributaries to wit: Rental of Dragline
Equipment for dredging sand from Colma Creek and Tributaries
1963 and referring to the specifications on file in the Office
of the City Clerk, the first of which publication shall be
at least ten (10) days prior to the time fixed for opening
bids. A copy of said notice entitled, "Notice to Bidders",
is attached hereto and referred to and by this reference made
a part hereof as if set forth verbatim herein.
Ail proposals or bids shall be accompanied by a
cashier's, or certified check payable to the order of the
City of South San Francisco, in an amount equal to not less
than ten per cent (10%) of the bid figure, or by a bond in
said amount drawn in favor of said City and executed by a
corporate surety. Said check shall be forfeited by bidder,
or said bond shall become payable to said City in case the
lowest responsible bidder (or bidders) depositing the same
does not, within the time set forth in said plans and speci-
fications, enter into a contract with said City, the faithful
performance of which shall be guaranteed by an undertaking in
the amount of one hundred per cent (100%) of the sum bid,
said undertaking being that of a corporate surety satisfac-
tory to said City Council, and which contract shall be
accompanied by a labor and materials bond of a corporate
surety, also in a sum equal to one hundred per cent (100%)
of the amount of said bid, as required by the provisions of
Title I, Division 5, Chapter 3, of the Government Code of
the State of California. In case of a forfeiture, as pro-
vided for in the preceding sentence, the defaulting bidder
shall be liable to said City for any additional expense to
which it may reasonably be put in connection with obtaining
full and complete performance of the particular work of
improvement with which this Notice to Bidders is concerned.
3. Bids will be received by the City of South San
Francisco, California, at the Office of the City Manager
of said City, City Hall, Grand Avenue, South San Francisco,
California, at or before the hour of 2:00 ~.m.

NOTICE CALLING FOR BIDS FOR THE RENTAL
OF DRAGLINE EQUIPMENT FOR DREDGING SAND
FROM COLMA CREEK AND TRIBUTARIES IN THE
CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that sealed bids for the rental of
dragline equipment, fully operated and maintained, for dredging
sand from Colma Creek between 1,000 feet east of Orange Avenue
and approximately 900 feet east of Airport Boulevard and from
various tributary ditches in the City of South San Francisco will
be received in the office of the City Manager of South San Francisco,
City Hall, Grand Avenue and Maple Avenue, South San Francisco,
California, at or before the hour of 2:00 p.m., on ~uesday, the
10th day of September 1963, said t~me being not less than ten (10)
days from the first publication of this notice. All bids~will be
publicly opened, examined and declared at said time and place. Award
of contract will thereafter be made by the City Council of said City
to the lowest responsible bidder or bidders~ subject, however, to the
right of said City Council to reject any and all bids, which right is
hereby reserved.
The rental of dragline equipment hereinbefore referred to con-
s ists of one or more of the following dragline equipment~ fully oper-
ated and maintained.
Item 1.
Rental of la yard dragline, per hour.
Item la.
Combined move-in and move-out charge for la
yard dragline.
Item 2.
Rental of 3/4 yard mobile truck crane dragline,
per hour.
Bidder to bid on one or more of the above sizes of dragline
equipment. Bidder to state name, age, capacity and model number o£
equipment and specify length of boom and size of bucket. It is esti-
mated that there will be approximately 20 days of work for each
machine. The total amount of the bid and the amount of performance
bond required will be estimated by multiplying the hourly rental rate~
by 160 hours, plus the move-in and move-out chargep if applicable.
The City reserves the right to award the contract to the bidder
furnishing the best bid based on the type and size of machine which
will result in the lowest total cost to the City. The City may an~d
separate contracts for Item 1 - la and for Item 2 based on the loWeSt
bid received for each item.
All dredging operations are to be done under the supervision-~4Ff
the Director of Public Works and at the locations and in the
specified in the specifications entitled "Specifications for
Colma Creek and Tributaries - 1963". Reference is hereby made tO

from the City Clerk, upon the making of a deposit of FIVE
