NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that pursuant to the requirements of Health & Safety Code §17958.7, the City Council finds and determines there is a need to adopt the following changes or modifications to the California Plumbing Code 1998 Edition, (Municipal Code Chapter 15.12) by reason of local conditions: 1. Climatic, Geological, and Topographical Changes. Provisions on plumbing systems are amended in Section 701.1.2 and Section 903.1.2 limiting the use of plastic piping to certain residential structures and prohibiting the use of such piping in industrial and commercial buildings, due to the fire risk caused by the City's proximity to the San Andreas Fault. Similarly, Section 903.1.2, Section 604.1, and Section 1211.3 are amended in order to avoid indoor leakage problems and to reduce the risk of toxic fumes or gas in case of fires, due to the increased fire risk caused by the City's proximity to the San Andreas Fault. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby directed to cause a copy of this resolution, together with the ordinance making the changes or modifications to the California Plumbing Code 1998 Edition, to be filed with the State Department of Housing and Community Development and the California State Building Standards Commission.
